Hey guys wanted a little critique on the positioning/look of my Destroyer, I’m going for a giant mechanical-gorilla-bull-on-fire look.
The throat will have sculpted flame I also plan to add a spine of Flame-fur down the back. The hobby knife will turn into a rock when I find a suitable one. What does everyone think? The back legs and head/neck are bluetacked atm so nothing is too final. The arms are glued but in the default maulerfiend positions which I quite like.
My Destroyer/Infernal Engine has exactly the same pose, so I obviously am a fan of it. You can find it in my blog if you want to have a peek (see signature).
Funnily enough I had plans to maybe do a second one sometime, pretty much along the same lines as you are doing right now; a shortened neck, a bull head and making it all flamey. I considered using the Gorgon head, but I thought it’d be too big. Apparently it isn’t! That’s good to know
Too many tails for a Destroyer for my taste but however it looks good so far.
Herby
Thanks for the comments guys, the reason I added the tails was that the model needed something a) at its rear end and b) to increase its size on the mase to stop it looking silly. Plus I think it's a good way of representing the number of attacks the beast can dish out.
I'll post a few more pics up once I've stuck him together with something more solid than stickytack lol. ATM he is ferrociously temperamental and savagely falls over at me if I breath on him, so pics are kinda awkward.
This absolutely has the potential to become my favorite destroyer-conversion so far… it has the right Demon-Bull-Machine-feel to it. I’m exited to see your flame-fur. Because that’s the only thing it’s lacking at the moment: HEAT! Keep going and keep us updated. :hat off
absolutely works. if you want it to be even more imposing, think about having him crest a small cliff on the base or something, have some broken ground erupting magma under his feet, maybe add some warhammer fantasy elements into the basing such as ye olde signposts or scattered empire gear, just to root it into fantasy and not scifi. you may want to steampunk it up a bit too with some smoke/steamstacks out of the back or whatnot, taking some design cues from the Iron Daemon.
But I have to say, I’m not a big fan of the tails. Instead, here’s what I’m planning to do with mine (which is made out of a forge fiend too :P), put a trail of fire behind the beast!
I’m sure my mother will appreciate the love for the tablecloth it’s her favourite lol. Thanks for the comments, I’m gonna bed the rock in with a bit of putty and gravel, next job is green stuff on the throat and back then basing then paint job :).
Yeah, it’s the gorgon head with the horns repositioned slightly. Glad it’s proving to be inspirational. Gonna try crack on with the green stuff this week work permitting. Watch this space!
I’ll say it is better than the WIP pics we saw last year. But it looks far to much like a robot for my tastes. To much mechanical, not enough demon. Quality wise though, it shows good promise!
