[Archive] Your competitive 2400 point ETC CD army list

Honeym123:

So guys - who out there have a dangerous etc 2014 list lying around, that I can make my upcomming purchases around? List your list, and lets see whos argumentation wins!

A slave for the most dangerous - based on my limited judging - so remember to tell me why your list is dangerous as the mountain in wich it was forged!

Kamphre:

I have last year ETC lists, but they’re not mine, I can’t explain you the synergy with the other team members.

ThorAxe:

My list is as follows:

Sorc Prophet of Hashut, arabyan carpet, talisman of preservation, encahnted shield, blood of hashut

(multi-purpose general. Is able to babysit war machines and move to specific parts of the battlefield given the ability to fly. Cannot have the mount shot out from beneath him, high T, armor, and ward lessen effects of shooting against him. Blood of hashut helpful against skullcrushers/other high armor save things that reach combat)

Castellan bsb, shield, mask of the furnace, ironcurse icon

(defensive bsb, would rather have survive and grind down foe than need to attack. Other races have better and cheaper combat heros, ours is among the better defensive ones)

Khan, la, spear, shield, terrifying mask of eee

(I take this mostly for fun. Awesome to have him terrify a unit of chaos warriors, or scare off low leadership chaff. You could instead remove some of his equipment to make him fast cav and give the Prophet a scroll. Probably a better idea…)

28 Infernal guard, sword n board, FC, warbanner

(Bsb goes here. Has a static combat resolution of 6 when enough ranks are there, grinds down the foe without dying in return Not at 29 due to etc system)

28 Hobgoblins, FC, shields, bows

(Secondary, supportive block. extra fortitude in blood or glory scenario, massed bow fire sees off enemy chaff, pokes off charmed shield on daemon prince)

20 Hobgoblins, shields, musicians

(expendable unit. Sits in watchtower in watch tower scenario, throwing knives constantly. Can babysit warmachines depending on battle, throwing knives at sneaky foes trying to encircle you, kills off chaff with static combat res. Good at holding monsters in place due to steadfast)

3 Bull Centaur, shields, musician

(try and play the caff game with these. can laugh off elves without great weapons, also fast enough to try and get around foe and attack from flanks or rear. Could also hold up weaker monsters. Not so good against huge units with massive static combat res)

1 Death shrieker Rocket

(either try and snipe monsters/characters/chariots or large blast units outside generals/BSB range to force panic. good war machine)

1 Magma canon

(utter death to T3 infantry on small bases, and monstrous infantry. Cast ash storm (flamable) on monstrous infantry first for fun times)

1 Iron Daemon, hellbound

(good for holding up units you never want to fight (hordes of savage orcs, hammerer hordes, gut stars, executioner hordes) out of the battle, or at least hold them in place to flank charge with infernal guard to break with massive combat res. Its guns can also massacre many monsters and other single model units)

1 K’daii destroyer

(Amazing against certain armies. Will rampage through armies as long as its weaknesses (massed poison, unstompable character with dragonbane gem/ dragonhelm, redirectors) are kept away. Very good as a distraction at the very least)

Comps out 7.7, just out of the highest tier if you worry about that sort of thing.

Just put a single model that the ID:s cant stomp against them and they cant do anything :p

So it's pretty much a one trick pony.

Jorma
Except that your single unstompable model is charged on next turn by the 2 others, dealing 2D6 +4 impact.
And before the single model charge, it's targeted by all 3...

This list is not a one trick pony, for me it's the most powerful of all.

m0rg0th:

If you let your unit get charged from an Iron Daemon you should not be playing at the ETC…

Unless you have actually tried it instead of theoryhammering it, I would not be too quick to dismiss it. I played with two in a recent tournament and all of my opponents commented on how tough they were to deal with.

Heavygear
I have not tried it myself, but heard from a ETC-veteran that the list is extremely easy to deal with, just get them into combats that they don't want to go and they will be completely tied down. For example competive WoC ETC list has only Warhounds that the iron daemons are able to stomp, rest is either monsters, chariots or mounted.

(I actually have no idea how ETC-pairings go but you might not end up with your ideal footslogga army where everything is stompable with low str)

I wasn't facing footslogga armies but I'm soooo glad you "know a guy" who played a list like this once so you can offer these little nuggets of wisdom. Clearly it makes you an expert on the subject.

Heavygear
No need to get offensive, what I mainly meant that while the list looks awesome and I even giggeled at the thought of wielding such a "monster" heavy CD list, it would be rather easy to shut down in competive enviroment.
