I agree with the Big Hats for the important figures in the army and helmets for the rank and file. It makes the leaders stand out without reaching the sometwhat excessive heights of the early CD lord hats.

In my opinion a mixture is good.
A variation allows you to inject some personality into your army.
Big hats for your arrogant lordly types,
Masks for those who specialise in artifice and operation of tools of war,
Helms for the combat orientated types and those who have been shamed such as the infernal guard.
That’s just my opinion anyway.
