So I have a couple sets of the Battle for Skull Pass Dwarfs, I have decided to convert them into a Chaos Dwarf army, thus the post for my first ever Chaos Dwarf armylist.
I’m not sure what to think about this list to be honest. It seems like a regular dwarf build but using Chaos Dwarves instead. I honestly can’t say how well it will or won’t do. I do notice that you have your BSB listed as being in two different places btw.
Your prophet isn’t a real fighter, don’t bother to equip him in that way.
Enchanted shield and préservation charm would be enough and why not, power stone or dispell scroll.
Which lore did you choose?
You have too many small units, they won’t resist, even if they are stubborn.
I suggest you drop one unit of blunderbuss for more fireglaives.
5bull centaurs? They won’t have a rank, i suggest you just take 4 of them with heavy weapon to hit hard OR shield to be resistant. banner of light would be better 'cause they will be far away from you general. HW are useless IMHO.
Well they are Chaos DWARFS so they probably will end up looking like a sit and shoot kind of army no matter what I do with my Skull Pass models. I figure why make a normal Dwarf army when I can get a 2500 point list that is something new and fun to play…
Thanks for the advice dromar, here is what I have come up with for changes:
Having a crown of command on a castellan is pointless because he is already stubborn. Also you may want to consider taking a dragon helm on him for a 2+ save in combat.
Your ironsworn will not benefit from the razor standard because they have magical weapons.
With you prophet, don’t bother with stone mantle or tricksters helm, just go with the enchanted shield and 4+ward and either a dispell scroll or an earthing rod, this will ensure his survivablity and the rod will stop him blowing himself up. The blood of hashut will get you out of most tricky situations.
Heres an example of what i’m thinking for a competetive, defensive-shooty-counter-punch list.
See if this gives you any ideas.
Sorcerer prophet
level 4
Earthing rod
Lore of death.
Deamonsmith
Charmed shield
Scroll
Lore of metal.
Dark castellan
Battle standard bearer
Black hammer
Hobgoblin khan
wolf
dragon helm
spear
light armour
Hobgoblin khan
wolf
dragonbane gem
spear
light armour
Infernal guard x 24
Great weapons
Banner and musician
Infernal guard x 24
Great weapons
Banner and musician
Infernal guard x 10
Musician
Hellcannon
Hellcannon
Irondeamon
Hellbound
Skull cracker
The list castles up, with the hellcannons and the great weapons at the front, the iron deamon sits on the flank and waits as a counter charge unit.
Both wizards sit in the unit of 10 infernal guard behind the hellcannons giving rerolls, the lvl4 uses doom and darkness in combination with the hellcannon for -4 ld panic tests and usues his snipes to chip points away. While the lvl 1 6 dices searing doom to knock out knights or steam tanks.
The khans are throwaway heroes that can get in the way of death stars and can be used to hold up flaming monsters (like destroyers).
If your list wants to work as a defensive army, you need synergy, without it the weaker parts of your army can be picked away.
I appreciate the armylist hobo but I just dont have the models to do that sort of thing as I am building the list out of just two Skull Pass dwarf sets…
I think you may benefit from making the fireglaives into 2 units and combine the blunderbussers into one in order to maximize the blunderbuss benefits. Just my 2 cents worth…
From what i can remember of the dwarf part in skull pass starter box, you can make: -20 arquebuse (fire weapons)= 2X10 fireglaives with musician -2 canons = 2 magma canon -2 thans= 1 Infernal castellan and 1 demonsmith -2 killers= champion -16 miners= infernal guard with heavy weapon -24 warriors= infernal guard with HW and Shield, full command.
=1600pts Then , you would be able to had hobgobling bowmen and riders, bull centaurs or K’daai/destroyer/hell canon And why not, a mighty lord on great taurus/lammasu.
hailshot blunderbuss aren’t very good if you use them by 20 or less. Fireglaives are more efficient. You can alos try the big block of twenty fireglaives in 10 front.
