Hi all, started with my Black Orcs. My CD are going to be electric blue and either orange or bronze.
I’ve painted the black orcs first to try and make some progress and now stuck.
Ps its been about 13 years since I’ve painted minatures, so a little rusty.
My main issue is with the bronze / blue shoulder plates. I was trying to go for a metal plate look (and to speed up painting) but before I go too deep into painting them i need your opinions if possible…

My suggestion is that you need 4 metal recipes. You just mix these amongst them.
Bronze - i.e. dark brown
Brass - i.e. golden but not gold.
Black iron
Regular silver iron
Bronze needs a black wash for shading, and the brass highlight colour (and probably verdigris if you’re being fancy).
Brass needs a brown wash and highlight up to silver
Black iron, probably an almost black dark gun metal for a mid highlight and silver for highlights
Regular iron needs both a watered down black and brown wash imo, and start from something like boltgun metal.
Also, for black orcs bright red or bleached bone dags look good

Thank you. So you think mix in a few darker metalics?
Well, if it were me I’d mix in all 4 ramshackle.
But it’s the spot colour like red or blue that will make them really stand out
