Not planning a deep dive into the AdeptiCon previews from tonight, but I was particularly interested in seeing where things were with the Cathay reveals. Very impressive.
The Cathayan Grand Cannon has a Thunderous Impact with its shots, that slow down enemy units where the shots land. <<THIS!!! I’ve been looking for some good rules so I can field the old Chaos Dwarf Earthshaker Cannons. Their old rule of slowing enemy movement was one of my favourite tactics in the days of the old Ravening Hordes army list! It really helped level the playing field with the slow Chaos Dwarf army! I’ll be borrowing this rule for my own friendly army lists - Yoink!
Hobgoblin clans are scattered along the Northern borders of Cathay, so there’s definitely some influences between the two that can be capitalized on!
And how great to be able to add in an upgrade for my Hobgoblins Rocket teams… taking them from this:
To this:
My Hobgoblins will just need to pilfer one or two of these from the Cathayan army and they’ll be all set for the modern era!!
I don’t see any reason why I can’t have my Hobgoblins take a few other things form their neighbours in Cathay as their spoils of war… maybe one of the Cathay floating Sky Lanterns for my Hobgoblin general just to cap things off The rules allow artillery to use the floating lantern’s line of sight!
Although the Cathay models aren’t my cup of tea as an army, I think the new kits will give some exciting options to flesh out the aesthetic of my old Hobgoblins and especially my collection of Citadel Hobgoblin Temple Dog riders! Here’s hoping for some terrain.
