So I ran the numbers out of curiosity

My total above doesn’t match my badges that I’ve awarded myself.. :wink: but by all means keep entering and I will try to do honest battle.

That said. My W/L when eddy picks up a paintbrush is quite poor. So watch out for :italy:

In my mind we’re all fruitlessly chasing @Zanko for CDO’s most glorified veteran blackshard medal. He’ll probably double blackshard before anyone else gets single blackshard. It’s a losing battle as he never misses a contest but it’s one worth pursuing.

In all seriousness thank you for sharing, now I’m curious about people having done the most entries ever the year.

Maybe if I have time sometimes soon.

If you count 3 for gold, 2 silver etc. You could tally up that way. Combining the artisans results too might be interesting

You know what we should do.

We should have a competition of all the golden hat golds against each other! Slayer Sword/ highlander style.

As in we divide all the entries into 4 groups

Then we vote on the winners in each group.

Then the final round where only the 4 winners from the last round go through.

There can be only one! :skull:

It’s a fun idea! Something to think on.

Being honest, I would have a bit of a hard time launching a contest with restrictions on who can enter. Since any contest could in theory be someone’s first opportunity to take the plunge onto the forum.

Other than maybe the introductions thread, my first real contribution to the forum was a DM to the GoldenHat account. So that’s probably part of why the contests as a big welcome sign to anyone looking to join CDO is a somewhat sacred concept to me.

There’s nothing better than seeing discourse’s “first time a user has posted” flag in the golden hat inbox. Close second is the “it’s been a while since so and so has posted”.

Ahhh… unfortunately, I’m missing quite a few contests!

That said, I do have the advantage of being older (if you consider that an advantage :thinking: ), and I actually bought and painted my first Chaos Dwarves back in the late '80s.

I think, a few CDO members (I’m thinking of @Zoddtheimmortal - among others) should be getting a veteran Blackshard medal soon as well. :hatoff:

Ah no you misunderstood what I meant.

Not that we take all the gold winners and ask them to paint something new (half of which probably aren’t even actually active any more)

I’m saying we do a poll of existing winning entries since the beginning golden hat 1.

More of a theoretical competition than an actual competition, if you get what I mean. A “what if” battle to the death last person standing thing.

Nobody actually “enters” as such. Unless they want to exclude their own winners of course.

Agree on this, some of the Artisans are very similar to the GH. Thanks for putting this together. Very interesting to see who is at the top so consistently. And now I realize that one needs to actually enter contests in order to have a shot at more medals. Knew I was missing something… more effort on modeling and painting. Who needs real life stuff??

Excuse my ignorance, but What’s the difference between Artisan and Golden Hat?

The Golden Hat is our straight-up painting contest. Source of the model doesn’t matter and there is one overarching theme instead of categories (like Golden Demon), but other than that is just painting models.

Artisans Contest on the other hand usually features creating something, be it a scratchbuilt, kitbash, 3d-model, diorama, digital or actual artwork, basically everything artistic beyond painting. (Models are usually still painting though)

Then there is also Scribes Contest, that’s about writing something. So that wouldn’t fall under Artisans either.
