Entry submitted. Ball’s in your court, fellas.
turns around, mildly stunned
My literal reaction. Looking forward to seeing what Iron chef Bobby Gray cooked up.
Wait already ? Gotta stop procrastinating …
2026- “the year of painting something”
Congrats jasko
Balls indeed!!! Holy cripes. I so not even close yet… just too many other balls in the air. I’m underway, but holy Hanna I’m so far behind compared to how much time I thought I had when I looked at the calendar weeks ago :\ Yikes!
Thank you guys!
Going on vacation turned out to be good for my hobby discipline, as it effectively advanced the deadline one month and i really really wanted to participate in this series of contests. Stayed up until 2am to finish it everything up and am pretty stoked about it all. Now I can relax and look forward to what you all are going to cook up, fantastic.
One month to go!!
Hashut !!! It is well known that deamonsmithes work best under pressure and the watchful eyes of the sorcerer conclave.
I’ll continue toiling away ![]()
Wow. Very efficient Jasko. I’m still working on base coats. Hopeful I’ll actually have an entry for once.
I was in the lucky position to have had a whole unit already basecoated and one sample model almost finished. Perfect golden hat for me.
I just read the rules again, but a squadron of few infantry is valid as a golden hat entry ?
Absolutely, that’s how I’ve read it. Anything from a Single model of infantry, a full unit or multiple units even ![]()
Absolutely valid. What Ghrask said.
The intent of this contest is to drum up interest with minimum barrier to entry and get people started on their journey to a full army! Sometimes that first model is the hardest.
Everyone paints different. Some folks batch paint a whole unit at once, others pick off single entities or small groups at a time and continue to grow their units piecemeal.
So enter as few or as many infantry models as you can muster before the deadline.
I guess the implication is a unit, not a warband.
So being armed with very similar weapons.
Doesn’t have to be explicitly. A warband is fine.
Taking liberties, one could say a warband is just single entities plucked from several different units.
So if someone were to say. Paint a scheme tester of each different weapon variant and combine them into an entry.. go ahead. There’s nothing in the rules that says you must finish painting one unit before proceeding to the next.
There are loopholes in every contest brief, largely on purpose. Implication be damned. These are intentionally open ended to help more people enter. It’s up to the voters after all anyway.
The contest brief is not meant to be an exhaustive list of what’s permissible. Just some ideas off the cuff to get creative juices flowing.
Also models for Mordheim are mentioned in the brief so warbands are definitely on the menu.
Ugh, my entry isn’t going well at all!! Too much other stuff in life going on right now and I am just not getting time to work on anything. I’m now looking at the calendar for each March and trying to figure out if I can take a few days off work to have some time to put toward this…
How is everyone else doing with this one??

Things are going well on my side. I really want to contribute something worthwhile to the community.
It’s a big step out of my comfort zone! Timing-wise, I’m on track. I should achieve the deadline.

My unit is almost finished. I’m still working on a unit filler, so I have enough time to work on a regiment base.
I thought it was end of Feb, so been working quite hard lol. Loads of time!
Making steady progress, but still lots to do. I’ve also been working on multiple units which are not really contest eligible as they have been partially completed or pip for years but still require a little or a lot of work to get to where I consider them complete. The contest theme this year is a really good excuse to make progress in each category.
