Haazgoths Horde, CD Army from start (2025-03-23)

Hi all, hoping I got this in the right place.

Purchased everything I need for a 2000 pt army. Now to start building it. This is what I have so far.

Black Orc Mob

Infernal guard (will be 16)

Infernal guard with fireglaives

CD fillers for either of the above units. Probably bump up the HW and shield unit for now.

I also built two bolt throwers, intention here is that the front 50mm base is the gaming base and the bolt thrower itself can be removed so everything can be adjsuted correctly and rank (if that makes sense).

I messed the wyvern up already. Pinned it to the base and then when fitting the top part with wings one of the wings clashes with the table :man_facepalming:

Few other bits and bobs lying around.

I’d prefer not to update on how it went…

Ah, those VCs can be bastards! They have all the bases covered and they do not fear you!

Ok, so it didn’t go too well. Main issue i couldn’t land enougĥ damage on his necromancer on mortis engine quick enough to put him under pressure.

I made two two mistakes early that probably didn’t influnce the battle but require a rethink.

First mistake I had put my wyvern in front of his blood nights which were screened with dire wolves. Not a mistake in itself, but I gave him regen and what I really needed was a ward save. I took 7 wounds from the two screams next turn and died. One ward would have allowed me to complete my plan.

Second mistake a steed of shadows my infernal guard behind his blood knights to start shutting down his mortis engine but couldn’t do anytging except look at edge of board. Plan next turn was to turn and reform. Mistake. I forgot his vargaulf were frenzy and skirmish :man_facepalming:

Took a flank charge and with the wyvern now dead the blood nughts turned and charged the rear. What I should have done was put them in front of the grave guard and forced a charge.

Ultimately I couldn’t being the pressure quick enouh to make him make errors.

Lessons learnt my bull loving friends.

Done a bit of work today to the rocket battery.

Have a little section for dice holding. Then the base is the correct size for crew and warmachine together.

Backstory (with the help of AI to make it sound better)

Vorthak the Ash-CrownedMinor Sorcerer-Prophet of the Ninth Circle

Lord of the Ashen Exiles, Warden of the Northern Spur“I was cast out for a single misfire. I return with a thousand.”

— Vorthak, before the bombardment of Karak Izor (2518 IC)

1. Origins – The Shame of Uzkulak

  • Birth: 2411 IC, pure Dawi-Zharr blood, third son of Daemonsmith Krazhul Ironspite, a mid-tier forge-lord in Uzkulak’s Lower Forges.

  • Upbringing: Trained from infancy in rune-binding and artillery calculus. Excelled at trajectory tables; could sight a Dreadquake Mortar by ear alone.

  • First Curse: At age 27, during a mass-binding of K’daai Emberlings, Vorthak overcharged the containment rune. The resulting warp-flare petrified his left arm and killed 42 acolytes. The Conclave of Uzkulak sentenced him to death by magma.

Musician done. Just need to tidy up the greenstuff. Used an old Marauder drum and what I think is a really old chaos warrior arm with mace, spikes cut off.

Yes I know the anatomy doesn’t quite work, but making the drum arm shorter meant the drum was too high and I don’t have any dwarf sized arms/hands for the other side :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

plus nobody will notice painted in a unit. Looks cool.

Exacrly, no one ever looks that hard. And if they did, I’ll say he spent far too many nights in the warp stone filled dungeons.

Part of the original inspiration. The first story not the page itself.

All I’m seeing is a chaos dwarf having a blast with a drum of epic proportion and I’m all for it ! It will look great in the full unit !

Progress on unit 3. I really wanted there to be a Khornate inspired old stool feel. Fluff wise my general is an outcast up in the North seeking redemption and has ‘true’ Chaos Dwarf allies / mercenaries from the wastes.

The guy on the left is my unit champion for another unit, why he is slightly different.

More recruits turned up yesterday.

Your standard bearer, where is his shield from?

I had thought about using chaos warrior shields but figured they were too big. But i think this is a chaos warriors one right? Looks fine

Yes thats correct. Early 2000s chaos knights. It doesn’t quite work on any of the earlier dwarfs in my opinion, except these new ones. Its only slightly larger than the one that comes with them. I think thats because the Shield arms are slightly higher to accommodate the larger shields.
