Filler picture because it is quite late at night:
Proper commentary pending.
I painted 4 Necromunda Goliaths.
Here’s a better picture:
After a lot of internal debate, I’ve decided I’ll be using these as Discipline Masters in my Heresy Militia. The idea is that they’re just big bullies who slap around any militia whose resolve is lacking. In 30k, Discipline Masters have 2 wounds so I wanted to make them look tough as nails. Ideally they’d have whips, but it’s staggeringly hard to find good whip bitz without resorting to a 3d printer.
Four off the pile.

Nice and simple, slightly dingy with a touch of underhive drab, and some red for contrast! Perfect!!

Staying on a gentle downhill roll, I’ve gotten a few more models done. First off are three Commissars for my Imperial Guard:
Lots of black and patience went into these.
And here’s a shot of them together with my older Commissars, all painted at least fifteen years ago. The one on the left I got at a swap meet already mostly painted, I just tidied him up and gave him the bolt pistol:
Also, I painted the Slayers I got the other day:
These guys I did using mostly contrast & speed paints. I started with a purple slapchop base:
These were a lot of fun, and pretty easy.
That’s six off the pile, taking me back under plus fifty for the moment. I’ll have a big job getting back down to zero but I’m hoping to get it done by end of June.

Tiny update today.
I’m not sure how well you can see it, but these two little pouches each contain a metal Cadian sniper, because I have a sickness and the only prescription is more Cadians:
Two on the pile.

Ah, I forgot to post these:
Just a vox operator and banner bearer for my Imperial Guard, who will continue doing double duty as Heresy Militia for a little while.
Two off the pile.
(Also I bought like 50 of the Made-to-Order Vostroyans so I may be in some trouble a few months from now).

Oopsies, I did some more forgetting.
Firstly, I’ve picked up some Rapier batteries on pre-order:
There’s a gunner and a crew member for each box, so eight dudes in total. I’m going to headswap the gunners and replace the crew with servitors to make them fit better into my Heresy Militia.
Second, I painted some Autocannon weapon crews for my Astra Militarum:
Four of these are freshly finished (the fifth was painted a while ago). With two crew per base, that’s eight in total.
So, eight steps forward and eight steps back. I need to pick something fairly big to tick off in the next month or so, and get myself back under +50.
Eurgh.

A very small update tonight, but I’m hopefully kicking off a productive month.
Today I painted the pair of Cadian snipers I got last month:
I didn’t do anything special for them, just followed my regular painting process. Despite the temptation I didn’t paint their camo cloaks with texture paint, I felt like keeping them simple.
Funnily enough, I only noticed as I was painting them that this sculpt has a helmet at the model’s feet - which I duly painted Rythnian red. Apparently these two have taken their hats off to get a better sight picture and blend in with their surroundings.
I also did some cleanup of some primed models where I’d missed a few spots. My Iron Hands are getting that little bit closer to being finished!
Two off the pile.

Another small update today.
For my hobby time over the King’s Birthday weekend I prioritised putting stuff away because I have run out of space in my display cabinet and several recent projects don’t really have a home.
I put magnets in the bases of all my 30k Iron Hands, my Skitarii, and a few other bits and bobs - just so I could put them away safely,
I realised afterwards that this was a mistake, and I should have put magnets in the bases of my Badab Carcharodons and my 30k Death Guard, so I could take them out of the cabinet and put the newer stuff in, but you live and learn!
I also built and primed a few things.
It felt very silly to do all of this (exhausting!) work and have nothing on the count to show for it, so I grabbed one of the primed models I was putting away and gave it a coat or two of paint:
It’s an old Inquisitorial henchman: a scribe, or possibly an auto-savant. I couldn’t make a pupil happen on his exposed eye, so he’s blind. I’m not sure he’ll get a job, I think my original plan was to make him a cyber-familiar for my Heresy Militia, but they can’t take one any more. He might end up as a Levy Sergeant or become a unit filler. He’s just a little guy.
It was a very quick paint job, just half an hour or so plus drying time.
One off the pile.

Love that model, nice work! Kitbashed my own version but haven’t gotten to painting it yet:

That’s absolutely fantastic - it’s a great kitbash you’ve done there. You should paint it up!
I have a one-in-one-out update for today, since a package arrived:
One in: Imperial Guard Sentinel, slightly squished.
And:
One out, an Imperial Navy officer who I took a little time on because I wanted to test how maroon interacts with blue, white and gold.
Null points.
From here I’m going to try not to add anything to the pile until my 30k Iron Hands are done (just six models left!) and my pre-ordered Vostroyans arrive.

I had a scheduled day off work today so I decided to make it all about painting. My cat said otherwise, so in between a couple of hours cat snuggling I put brush to model and got 19 Zone Mortalis wall & column segments finished.
Because I counted them as 1 on the pile per segment, they’re counting as their constituent parts rather than the assembled sections. It feels like good progress but there’s quite a bit of it left, still:
Regardless, I’m very happy to make a big dent in one go. These bring me to exactly 100 models painted so far this year!
I also got a lot of work done on my Iron Hands Saturnine Terminators, a Death Guard Siege Breaker, and a random Cadian Sergeant that just happened to be on my desk.
Nineteen off the pile for now, and a few more coming soon.

My wife recruited me to spend today building IKEA furniture, but I snuck away to put the final touches on some models I had WIP on the desk:
Three Saturnine Terminators, and an Imperial Guard officer.
EDIT: Here is a slightly better picture of the Saturnine Terminators - although my camera phone clearly doesn’t like models that are mostly black.
I’m nearly done with my Iron Hands project. Two characters and a dreadnought to go.
Four off the pile.

Since I have some ongoing motivation to work through, I finished a Death Guard Siege Breaker I started over the weekend:
For some reason my phone really hated me today, so I hate to put this picture through a lot of filters in order to not get a washed-out mess.
The point of the picture is to show completion rather than quality, I guess!
One off the pile.

Weirdly enough, I’ve had build & paint motivation for the last few days but not post motivation.
I’ve built a bunch of things and gotten some progress on about 40 models, which I’m very happy with.
In the actually completed pile, a few things.
First, a 30k Death Guard Leviathan dreadnought which languished in the cupboard for a few months because I painted it steel and then figured that my basecoat colours would have poor coverage over the top. Then this week I realised I was going to weather the heck out of it, so who cares?
Next I had a game of Heresy this week, and in the hopes of having at least one newly-painted Militia model I completed the Sergeant from my boarding Grenadier unit conversion.
[pic below]
Finally, today I had a little spare time and so got two Militia Sergeants and three Militia flamers done. Since I’ve painted at least 20 infantry this year without giving myself a Shame Golf squad completion for them, I’m going to bestow myself one for these.
That totals 7 off the pile.
Here’s some pics of the game - I was in with a fighting chance but failed my reserves rolls on the last turn. I conceded with a handful of models left on the table, mostly panicked.
And finally - “You and what army?”
These guys are more than halfway finished.
I’m fully intending to get back below net zero before the month is out. We’ll see if I can make it.

Ohhh yeah. It’s so close, I can smell it. It smells sweet. It smells like… zero.
I finished up these fellows. They’re intended as Grenadiers for a Militia army with the Armoury of Old Night provenance, which gives them access to Volkite weapons and a better armour save.
I’d already done the sergeant, so this is nine off the pile and a unit completion bonus in Shame Golf. Now I only need to paint four more models to hit net zero, and I’m hoping to get that done before the month ends - and then I can start making progress towards the -40 I’ll need to compensate for the Vostroyans I bought on made to order that are still on their way!

I, uh… I forgot about this.
It’s a bucket of legs and bodies. Not a single complete miniature in it. I don’t know if I even have enough arms & legs to build everything into a finished model. I have no idea what to do with this, count-wise.
Do I add them to the count based on a count of legs or do I put them on the pile as I assemble each of them?
I think there’s like 80 of them but I haven’t counted (EDIT: 133)
