Jaynaybits 'old skool' Zharr Vyxases

Been a fan of Chaos Dwarfs since 4th Edition and when I got back into the hobby a few years ago it was exciting to hear rumblings of dark things happening in the mountains…

When the Helsmiths were announced I was initially a little put off by all the purple and more angular hats but when I saw some of the ‘retro’ paint jobs and mockups I thought I had to grab the army box.

Took this as an opportunity to try NMM for the first time, which turned out quite well but it was HARD (this chaps head may have been stripped a few times)

I’m going to try and complete the army box over the next few months, though not sure how I’m going to handle the Dominator Engine, thinking a matt black but we’ll see.

Fantastically clean paint scheme you’ve got… the gold is gorgeous and the classic red/gold combo still looks like a million bucks!

Very nice indeed

My Hashut, this is very nice, I had to check exactly what NMM is but it is amazing, very inspiring and cool. I’ll follow some tutorial on it !

Thanks! I found this tutorial from Army Painter helpful, particularly the simple Space Marine shoulder pad example as it helps you understand the contrast you need to create with NMM, which is fairly unintuitive compared to painting non-metallic materials.

About to start batch painting the rest of the cohort in an attempt to get the launch box finished by Xmas 26…

Whilst the NMM will be time consuming to batch paint, now I have the test model as a template hopefully less of a head scratcher in terms of light placement.
