k2kShards Chaos Dwarf Big hat army!

Hi all!

I have recently come back to the game of Warhammer Fantasy Battles and am picking up a 20 year love in continuing my Chaos Dwarf big hats!

What was originally started as a Unit of 40 Chaos Dwarf warriors and a Hobgoblin boss on Wolf, is now growing and growing so I am aiming to use this as a way to keep accountable to my painting backlog

Heres the work to date! Hobgoblin is still WIP but pretty happy with his progress. Still experimenting with the bases and how I want to achieve the effect.

Will hopefully post some more shots of the full army soon!

Many thanks

:top2: Welcome pal!
:lol0: Starting strong with 2 of the best models in our range!!
I never thought how the bolt on the hero hat could be painted actually gems, and same goes with those bumps on fingers could be some actual rings!
The base looks already nice and that orange skin suits the hobbo very well!
Nice touch of an sketchy nmm, I should look into that too because making entirely smooth and blend is a worthless pain in the ass ahauhauaua

Well done already! And welcome once again!!

Once Chaos Dwarf, forever Chaos Dwarf! The fire that can never be extinguished.

Excellent paint job on two iconic miniatures. Longing to see more.

Also really interesting to see a 90s hobgoblin painted in 80s/20s hobgoblin skin colour.

Warms my soggy heart to see the automated first post welcome to the community flag followed by some great painting to kick off a showcase blog.

Welcome welcome!

Thanks for the love so far! I have a few more updates to come soon, this is definitely a good accountability method.

RE The Orange Hobgoblins… not sure why but have always loved the picture of Orange Skins in my head so figured i’d give that a crack, I quite like it and think that eventually if I included any other greenskins in the army it would make the hobbos stand out/clash well against the others.

hahaha yeah, this wasnt my first intention but I went from entirely smooth blended into sketchy through sheer lack of practice  I actually dont mind the result though but I think im going to keep practicing NMM and maybe come back to it eventually…

GWs original line of paints had Hobgoblin Orange so it makes sense! I’m actually using it for the cloth in my army
