I finally got myself up from my chair and sat down on a different chair in front of my painting desk - Golden Hat XLV was y big motivation and I had just the unit ready for it.
Already a while ago I had actually started painting a test model from my Jaskorh Bat’lethii for my army paint scheme (which can already be seen at my Ambassador to Zanko) I wanted to check out this whole pink/yellow thing.
I started with a nice base coat of Army Painter Pixie Pink and Wraithbone zenithal, all from the can. Then I blocked in some parts I wanted black and then it was one coat of Imperial Fist contrast paint. Immediately I had pretty much the result I wanted! Amazingly easy. I played around with a few colours for the metal. For a while I had copper blades but didn’t really like it, in the end blades were iron and the armour copper. That’s where I left it for many months.
With the success of the yellow at my back, I decided to challenge myself with another thing I always wanted to try: molten blades! Took my trusted test mini and played around with it . Was reasonably happy with the first try but soon refined the technique a bit. This is also when I changed up the painting process to streamline for batch painting: I basically painted everything but the yellow armour. I also used pink on the brush to put shade some recesses which had been covered by the zenithal.
And that was it! Rest was just painting everything up. I’m pretty chuffed with the result and am actually motivated to paint more! Only thing I’m not happy with is the bases. The effect didn’t come out strong enough and I’m honestly also bored with it. I already did an army with this style and it feels redundant. Also it’s a bit overkill with the molten blades and yellow armour. For the other models of the army I’ll do something else and will come back to these models.
Still: Super proud to present my painted Jaskorh Bat’lethii!
