New Chorf from France

Bonjour everyone

Pawock here, I’ve been lurking on the forum for the past few weeks, thought I would finally create an account to say hi.

I started collecting and painting warhammer miniatures at the end of the 5th edition. Actually my brother and cousin were the one to introduce me, they would give me a random range of miniatures and I would just throw the dices. (And act as the punching ball for their armies, respectively wood elves and O&G).

When I grew up a little bit I went on to start collecting an Empire army with the then new 6th edition. The choice weirdly enough wasn’t entirely mine, I was all about undeads back then, but my parent deemed the tombs kings and vampires “too spooky” for such an innocent boy. As such, I sticked to the empire and gloriously charged inner circle +1 knight into my brothers T3 wood elves. Fun times.

At this time I had read all the rule books in the house including the old rule book from the 5th. If memory serves, there was a showcase of the different armies and there it was. The chaos dwarf. The image of evil dwarf with glorious hats, turning into stone, forging weapons of destruction for the baddie, I remember in the image there was a cauldron with skulls boiling inside. I reckon, “these guys mean business”.

Unfortunately I gathered information about the Chaos dwarfs, but the local reseller broke the news to me. “No more Chaos dwarfs in the 6th”. (Which apparently is wrong, they kinda were supported, some erudite folks here could probably answer this)

So I stuck with the empire, friends joined the hobby, much great time was had by all. We played until the 8th edition. Then went on with our lives.

I started working as a consultant which means, loads of money but not so much time. Now my life is more settled, with more financial power than ever before. The old world is still pretty new and alive and apparently I found a community of lawful evil afficionados to talk and plot with.

The conversion is complete. Praise Hashut !

Welcome to the group. I look forward to seeing your version of a chaos dwarf army!

Thank you for having me !
As for the chaos dwarf army, well I came here as a big hats fan, but I’ve seen other versions of chaos dwarf that are really creative.
Still thinking about a big hat starter. I’ll buy a few samples of differents ranges I’ve seen, Fabelzels and remixes. I saw one guy selling some Brawniac’s on the french Ebay. Otherwise I’ll grab a few white angels and lost kingdom (the immortals look great and could make some kickass ironsworns). I also read that highland are going to release a big hat range next winter.
I’ve see some “supposedly” original old hat on french ebay, but they are 160€ the 10 guys, and might be recasts …

The plan for now is to get a few samples, see what I like. But first, painting school with my old imperial army, I got to relearn a lot.

If anyone has any experiences with the aftermention minis, I’d love to hear some feedbacks. Maybe that could be it’s own thread.

Sounds like a very good plan. Several of us here on CDO, myself included, mix and match models from different lines and use paint and conversion to bring it all together. I have models in my army from 20 different ranges, and others have even more variety than that. Of those you mentioned, I only have a unit of Lost Kingdom blunderbuss. Very nice sculpts with great detail. Find what you like and run with it. Cheers!
