Mistakes were made… mistakes of a sort, anyway ![]()
More to come.

Adding to my Jan 8th handsome acquisition of Hobgoblins… here’s what I was alluding to in the previous post. Still have some Chaos Dwarfs to inventory and count.
+28 Hobgoblins on foot of various sorts with hand weapons/command/etc.
+23 Hobgoblin Archers
+13 Hobgoblin Wolf riders of various sorts
+3 wolves (so far)

Nothing new painted… but I’m slowly filling out missing models from my old Citadel Chaos Dwarf collection.
With these two my MM90 Marauder Chaos Dwarf collection is completed.
This one (and one below) completes my Chaos Dwarf Renegades collection… except for a missing variant.
And these ones almost complete my D3 and C16 Chaos Dwarf collections, and the little guy at the very bottom of the first column completes all the available variants for the Chaos Dwarf Renegades except Khazek Doomlord.
And just for good measure, since these don’t come up often I purchased my 2nd Tenderizer… hard not to buy more of them ![]()
I currently only own one of the Chaos Dwarfs with crossbow models from a set of 6 variants. I’m getting 2 of pose 1-5 and one more of post 6 (+11 to BATG) to bring me up to 12 total for the unit. Could have easily had more but I didn’t want to break the bank!!!
So, with all of this I’m now at +146 for the year. I don’t think I’m going to be able to paint my way out of this.
If 2025 gets me the infamous positive BATG score… (after all, my wife has the new GW models set aside for me for Christmas), then maybe I can blitz some painting of all these acquisitions in 2026 and get the Blackshard medal.

Im expecting the helm cd painting blog to go into overdrive soon then. How do you plan to paint them? A particular chaos gods colours or all different?
I really go back and forth with plans. For my big hat 4th ed CDs I paint so infrequently I mostly just have individual units with their own colouring… it’s somewhat similar as I tend to make a lot of the same paint decisions over the years, haha
I have been wanting to branch out and paint some larger groups with a different colour scheme and using some colours that pop more than what I have now.
For the oldhammer stuff they really lend themselves to more characterful paint colour choices - there I likely will borrow colours from across the pantheon of colour schemes used in Chaos and Daemon armies. While it would be absolute heresy, I really want to paint up some groups of CDs in Tzeentch colours that really pop, along with a group of CDs who have turned to Nurgle. Some Nurgly Chaos Dwarf bois will really be able to show off some amazing helms!
I’m really happy to have finally finished off the collection of MM90 Marauder models, and those are definitely going to get some royal treatment and get their own display spot - either in the display cabinets, or quite possibly a separate diorama shadowbox on the wall. I feel like need to take a leave of absence from work to make headway on the hobby stuff though
Years on-end of 60-80 hours/wk leaves little time for anything else and I decided to start learning how to play piano and sign language so those have been displacing any time there may have been! Here’s to 2026!!

To be fair… this really could have happened to any one of us! Anyway, some online shop purchases and box openings later we discover the battle isn’t going well this year :\
Ewal Dvergar from Old School Miniatures… 90 models in total in the haul.
And then this little assortment of odds and ends.
+141 to the pile.
That’s going to be difficult to overcome… and there’s some new Helsmith boxes that Santa will be bringing that will really leave a mark soon!

See if you can get to +1000 by the end of year!
It would seem particularly successful on a happiness front!
Not helping!!! … or maybe you are helping ![]()

Maybe this will be like CIV2 with Gandhi peace value drops so low it go up to a million on the aggression scale, youll just need to get over the top number than it will just reset to 0 and your golden.
1 painted… it’s a start ![]()
This is going to go into a shadow box display I’ve been wanting to make for a couple of years for Warhammer Quest Blackstone Fortress…
Out in the garage I’ve had a piece of larger-than-needed black paper sitting with some spring clamps at the bottom as weight to let the ‘roll’ settle out of the paper. Then I made a starfield in the area that the model is going to be placed… (the old toothbrush spray method… and this was attempt #2, haha)
And then here I’m just checking the layout of components relative to the case, and you can see the starfield in the upper right where the model will be mounted. The other side is the backing for the case and some adhesive strips.
…anyway, it’s the “Warrant of Trade” that was a web exclusive item available at the time WBQ BSF was released. I added some extra bits: imperial coins, a purity seal and an imperial aquila, along with the warrant and the sleeve it came in (carefully placed so the warrant of trade is centered in the middle-to-lower part of the case, but the “web exclusive” word on the sleeve is covered up so it doesn’t break the illusion too much ![]()
I’ll post an update somewhere when I get confident enough with how I’m going to mount this heavy model!!

So, Christmas time came around - between what was under the tree and who I picked up on Boxing Day and beyond…
Helsmiths of Hashut Army Set x4
Urak Taar, the First Daemonsmith x1
Daemonsmith/Ashen Elder x2
Bull Centaurs x2
Infernal Razers x2
Hobgrot Vandalz x2
Warhammer Underworlds: Spitewood x2
Warhammer Quest Darkwater x1
So that brings the December tally up to +180… oy. Need a different strategy for 2026 since I clearly did not prioritize reducing the pile in 2025!

Now that is a sizeable collection.
Did you preorder the spearhead or you now have 4 books?
4 books
plus the smaller booklet version with all the AoS stat cards as well.
+466 is a mighty score.
Here’s a commensurate pat on the back and a theoretical uno reverse double blackshard badge.

Great undead models painted this year though and some BFG to cap it off!
