I just finished my Bretonnians, and decided to pull out my 3rd edition Chaos Dwarf army. I own all the old classics and more rare pieces. I stripped them and am getting them ready to paint.
What I’m trying to figure out is what some of these units can be proxies for?
My Juggernaut seems to have nothing that could be considered close.
I’m not sure if anything fits my Siege (ass) Cannon.
Same with my Swivel guns (I believe those are 2nd edition)
What about the Earthshaker Cannon?
I really want to run this army without any 8th edition models, as I’m not at all a fan of those models. Though I may buy Hell Cannons because they seem necessary for a decently competitive army, and I can use them for the future WoC army I plan to build.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m kind of sour that Specialist Games left out so many big hat units. Astragoth (yes, I know the legacy pdf’s don’t have named characters, but they damn well should) was alive at this time. Juggernaut would be an incredible rare.
I’m also angry that my Castellan can’t mount a Taurus. Is there any other army where only sorcerers can mount the high end mounts?A black Orc war boss can have a Wyvern, but I can’t mount a melee character like every other army can?
Juggernaut can def proxy for an Iron Daemon no problem. Siege (ass) Cannon can be a Hellcannon (just FYI: Hellcannon is considered not-exactly-good in the meta), Earthshaker is a Dreadquake Mortar. Swivel guns would make awesome unit fillers if you ask me, alternatively maybe Deathshriekers?
In a friendly game I see no reason why you shouldn’t just ask your opponent if it’s OK if you mount a Castellan on a Taurus. It wouldn’t break the game. Or you simply proxy him for a Black Orc Warboss on Wyvern? That would be kinda cool!
Somone else on here is proxying the Juggernaught as an Iron Deamon, its a similar size and not too much of a stretch IMO, it does have cannons on the front.
Ass Cannon could be a hellcannon or magma cannon perhaps?
If you put all your swivel guns on one big base they could be a deathshrieker rocket launcher (unless you have those induvidual bazooka guys already)
Earthshaker is easily a dreadquake, I don’t think it has a specified base size but if you want to be fair to the FW model size you could put it on a nice big decorated base.
If all else fails you could use any of them as unit fillers, though I understand this is not as fufilling
Yeah, the problem with swivel guns as Deathshriekers is that I have Deathshriekers already. I have a very close to complete 3rd edition army. I do wish I had the Man O’ War ships.
