Sisters of Battle

Hello all. Another off topic brought to you by the hobbiest with the highest work rate and shortest attention span, yours truly.

I have a sisters of battle army which for some reason I never shared here! I put this army together maybe three years ago? Maybe two?

I painted them very quick to get them ready for a mega game with @Habitual_Lurker , @chitzkoi and a mutual friend. It was good to get them en masse on the table, but I cut some corners that I’m hoping to now rectify.

Currently touching them up and rebasing them so will share here.

Why sisters?

The sisters have long been a favourite imperial army of mine in the grim darkness. Something about angry nuns with guns taps into my Catholic brain as being instantly awesome (and quite in keeping with the temperament of many nuns I’ve known over the years!)

As well as this, this army was a very cathartic experience to collect. I owned this army in my late teens/early twenties. In my mid twenties when going through some rough times, I sold them. I needed to pay bills but hated myself for it nonetheless! So getting this army again in my 30s was a joyful experience.

I have some unpainted SOB so may also be adding a few more bits. I’ve, to date, only been able to run them as allies to my guard or marines. Would love to get them up to full army strength.

Enjoy!

This is including “Sister Fister” on the right. She’s one of my favs! SOB don’t get power fists but there is a way to use them in game.

They couldn’t be trusted with power fists. Too many barracks-room fatalities.

Fantastic army, I hope they are as enjoyable to you than the ones you had to sell, if not more so.

Loving the classic black armour scheme and of course the hazard stripe chain swords

The demonifuge in particular looks great, what was the green recipe for that??

Glad you ask. It’s a very tricky technique.

step 1: use the citadel paint “technical -tesseract glow.”

Step 2: profit

I’m gonna need to write this one down

My canoness got damaged when I moved house this year. I was never 100% happy with her paint job either.

So

Decided to give her an upgrade

Adding a load of imperial priests to the army as well.

If you want to know why priests are a must have in a sister of battle army you can read my short tactica below.

Love all this old school metal. Beautifully painted and with some nice conversions throughout! Really like the winged Cannoness conversion. Ephreal Stern as well. Don’t see that model painted very often.

I know these models well. SoBs were my first painted army 25 yrs ago. Perhaps I shall be inspired to post my 20 year old SoB + Grey Knight + Redemptionists army here.
