Black orc on chariot is something I do need! Chariot is a beast compared to wyvern.
Sooner or later I will just use this guy for a Black Orc on Chariot. Even comes with the two Orc crew! Couldn’t be a better fit.
So… Oversized it is funny that GW enlarged bases do that old models would fit and people use new modele and now we are back to square one with overhangs lol
See, that’s a chariot I can get behind!
It’s been a while team. I spent the summer painting Bretonnians, painstakingly, only to find that I do not enjoy playing them. Maybe I’ll chop their heads off and replace them with hobgoblins. Nothing can’t be improved with a hobgoblin head. Except a Chaos Dwarf.
Anyhow, I decided to revisit my army and give some of the units a much-needed glowup, literally. Generous amounts of OSL were given to my War Machines and Fireglaives, plus a few touchups here and there. The army on display here won Best Painted at a local competition, which I was quite pleased about. Of course I’m hesitant to enter the same army in future contests, so I’ve no choice but to come up with new ways to realise our beardy friends on the battlefield. I have a devilishly fun idea - watch this space.
The way you paint fire and heat is just amazing
Thank you! That’s very kind. I feel like the photos are more flattering to the effect than real life.
Agreed it’s amazing !!
Superb Black Orc-chariot!
I think I have seen those on a Battle Raport on YT!
The Mighty K’Dai Destroyer! As seen on Golden Hat XLIV.
This monster lay dormant for years, ready to burst into flame for the inevitable Golden Hat event. I wanted to convert it more but honestly, the base model ticked all the boxes for me (besides the obligatory inclusion of a Prince symbol). Painting was easier than I imagined, though I’d still like to flesh out a few more hot spots (particularly following the excellent entries by @Nicodemus and @Jackswift).
Below: the scale of the model. Big. Big angry fireball.
Below: The K’Dai unleashed in a game of the Old World. It played as a Bonegrinder Giant and, inevitably, died quickly and without fuss.
You painted the fire demon really well. Great entry!
Who won the duel in your last photo?
Thanks
The big Nurgly thing won the duel - in an instant, I seem to recall. We had deliberately arranged a Bonegrinder Boogaloo but it was over before you could say “gosh, it’s getting hot in here”.
Love this model and you painted it very, very well with a nice angry lavaesque burnimg glow. Really great paint job! You had one of my votes. I wish I had picked up one of these when they were available. Very well done!
Ah the magnitude of pain only chariot painting can generate.
Awesome full army pics I had missed as well! Looking forward to your next project whether that be lopping off bretonnian heads or otherwise.
Completely agree, really great stuff here!
Thank you! I will chip away a little more, but now I’ve rounded off most the units, updates will be few and far between. They are by far my favourite army and I’ll continue to finesse the paint scheme for future events.
That said, I do have those wonderful fabezel prints from the recent Golden Hat contest to paint. They’re dangerously good, and make me tempted to start over with a red and goblin green themed army. Must…resist…
