The Riches of Khemri Part IV

Black smoke rises over the endless desert of Khemri. Drunk with victory and laden with treasures, the invaders erect a monument to their blasphemous god in the middle of the realm of the dead. The fires burn day and night and only the cruel laughter of the Dawi Zharr drowns out the screams of their slaves sacrificed to the flames. The cohorts of Khemri march as silently as death. Too long have the invaders lingered on the sacred ground of the ancient kingdom. Too long have they disturbed the peace of the eternally prostrate.
Too often have the dwarves of the East defeated the forces of the pharaohs of old.
A storm is brewing, the cohorts are approaching. And soon the land will once again belong only to the dead. And only slowly fading bones will bear witness to those who believed they could acquire the treasures and knowledge of the Tomb Kings unscathed.

The dwarves, who have just indulged in their celebrations, now rush to take up arms. Khemri’s vengeance is upon them!

The mighty chariots take the vanguard position and are storming to the front, while the rest of the great host of Khemri follows with mechanical precision.

Only few Defenders stand ready at the great Altar of Hashut to stand against the Undead until reinforcements can arrive

Both sides try to Position their warriors for the greatest effect. Drunken with bloodlust the Chaos Dwarfs deploy their forces over the whole battlefield. The Tomb Kings on the other hand have a clear objective in mind: to destroy the blasphemous Altar. And so they are concentrating all their might in the center.

Soon the first exchanges of blows take place. The dwarfen mortars are attacked by undead vultures, but are beaten back. The chariots launch a attack on the acolytes of Hashut, but they turn to flee. Mortars and skull catapults, bows and Blunderbusses alike fire deadly projectiles at the enemy, but without inflicting decisive damage. The magic of both sides is repeatedly dispelled by the opposing side. The battle is in the balance.

The Bone giant manages to charge the warriors on the left flank and butchers as many with his twin swords, as are trampled beneath his feet. The warriors are forced to flee and the giant fails to pursue. He now stands just in front of the Bultaurs who are ready to countercharge

Finally the Catapults manage to break the spirit of some Dawid Zharr with their unrelenting fire. This moment of weakness is used immediately by the chariots, who once more charge the Acolythes.

On the left flank the Bultaurs utterly fail to wound the giant. They in return are slaughtered. Unwilling to turn and flee they stay in the fight but their fate seems sealed

The tomb guard approaches the front line. A Unit of black orks stand in their way and behind those are the Immortals waiting for a enemy worthy of their wrath.

The Acolythes stand their ground and the chariots are stopped for now. The giant forced the Bultaurs to flee but again fails to wipe them out. So now he is shot down by a Unit of Blunderbusses with some help of Hobgoblin Archers.
The Black orks are the chosen target of the artillery and Bowmen of the Undead and many die. So they now only can be sacrificed by standing in front of the tomb guard. This should allow the Immortals to charge the tomb guard soon.

The battle rages on, death and destruction is everywhere. In all the Chaos many things are happening at once, so no general can hope to oversee all of it.

The Melee with the chariots gets bigger and bloodier. A Tomb King General on a great beast of war charges the Acolythes, but is stopped by a lone brave dwarfen Heroe. In Return a Colossus of the Dawi Zharr, together with some warriors charge the chariots

In the end everything happens very fast. In a single turn of Powerful Magic the Tomb Kings dominate the Chaos Dwarf Sorcerers utterly. All of their own warriors are filled with the magic of the Khemrian Priests. With a vitality that was until now unseen the Skeletons drive forward and kill all in their way. The Immortals are wiped to the last man, the Acolythes flee from their Enemy and are pursued and overrun. The heart of the Army of Naggrund is torn out and cut to pieces.

The scattered remains of the dwarfs loose all hope of victory and so the Legions of Khemri claim victory
