[TOW] Dreadquake mortar

Where did you find the STL? I’ve looked everywhere for this mini but I just can’t find it.

It should be in the large fabelzel collection, under max152s work

Except that they clearly designed the army off the 8th edition models, not big hats.

You are correct in that. I used to base my dreadquake/earthshaker on a 60x100mm, cause that what the FW model (without steam carriage) was on, according to the ETC.

However! The ETC also mandated a base for the casket of souls, and players in TOW treat that as the model counting as the base. That’s an opportunity to model for advantage, and I have two choices:

  1. take a disadvantage, and have a silly looking model, by basing in a way that I’m not asked to.

or

  1. Have my earthshaker look good on a 50mm base, and enjoy a smaller footprint for doom divers to hit (who am I kidding, they always hit)

I choose nr. 2, having my dreadquake be buggered by a flying goblin in round 2. Every. Time.

If authors write rules that allows choice, players will choose what is best for them.

I tend to spread out the crew and increase the unit footprint that way. That and being generous with what hits and all that. Same principle with LOS to the dreadquake. But I can see why that does not work in serious play, but I only play casually.
