[TOW] House Rules - Chaos Dwarf Armies of Infamy for The Old World

This is being written primarily as an allies list to buff out the differences between the 6th edition list and the TOW list, so it doesn’t include most of the units that are already available. Maybe I’ll fill it out to just be an update of the 6th edition list.

Early draft, not complete or anything yet.

Chaos Dwarfs Army of Infamy

Plains of Zharr Force Composition List

Characters
Up to 50% of your army’s points may be spent on:
Daemonsmith Sorcerers, Infernal Seneschals and Hobgoblin Khans

Core
At least 25% of your army’s points value must be spent on:
Dwarf Warriors (see Dwarfen Mountain Holds army list)
Dwarf Thunderers (see Dwarfen Mountain Holds army list)
Hobgoblin Cutthroats

Special
Up to 50% of your army’s points may be spent on:
Orc Mobs (see Orc & Goblin Tribes army list)
Goblin Mobs (see Orc & Goblin Tribes army list)
Bull Centaurs

Rare
N/A

Notes:
The Irondrake weapons would be much better as a blunderbuss than the simple handgun that Thunderers have, but the buffed-up stats of the dwarfs that carry them make things a lot messier. There’s room to just create a new unit, just as would be needed for cavalry-sized Bull Centaurs.

Do they let slaves anywhere near the temple(s) for anything other than sacrifice and maybe cleaning? I’ve always imagined that it’s mostly Sorcerers/Sorcerer-Prophets and Bull Centaur guards, with backup from Chaos Dwarf Warriors.

Hmm, yeah, I was just trying to come up with a different name. Maybe just Plains Defence Force or Slave Expedition Force would be better.

Fair enough!! I went with something much wordier, which suits my Chaos Dwarf’s sense of self-importance, inflated egos, and outlandish titles.

Kind of fits with their over-compensating hats

Since this is intended to be taken as allies, that means a 2400pt army can only take up to 600pts, and only 300 of that can be Special, so BCs have to be special to be feasible. That puts them as having to be less than 27pts each, which is less than Chaos Knights. For a 2K army, they need to be less than 23pts each for a unit of 10.

Pruned it down to the bare bones and put in full unit entries for the CD warriors and BCs.

Made it look all nice. A little updated compared to the one I put on the discord a few days ago.

So here is my take on an actual Legion of Azgorh as an Army of Infamy.

I followed the usual Army of Infamy style rules (33% core, no mercs) but chose to keep the Warriors of Chaos as allies because LoA was introduced as being a big part of the Chaos forces in Tamurkhan. You can see how it is largely the same.

Compared to the Grand Army list:
I removed things that weren’t in the LoA army - Black Orcs, bolt throwers, the Lord-level non-magic character.
Note that Sneaky Gits were effectively a Cutthroat option in LoA instead of a separate unit choice, so I included them.
Removed restrictions on war machines or loosened them a lot.
Removed restrictions on Wolfriders.
Added Chaos Giant.
Added K’daai Destroyer and BC Executioner.

The K’daai Destroyer is pretty close to the LoA 8th edition rules, just a few updates to match the Fireborn.
The Bull Centaur Executioner is based on Shar’tor. The rules are based on the Taur’ruk and then beefed up to Shaggoth/Minotaur Lord levels.
I was tempted to add a bit to the Chaos Giant to make it more like the Siege Giant, but those rules aren’t all that useful in most games, so I just left it.

Great work. Hashut is pleased.

Because I absolutely cannot help myself, here is a full on TOW army list based on the 6th edition Ravening Hordes army list. I gave it the assonant name of Acquisition Expedition, because that’s largely what the army was described as doing at the time.

I’m also working on doing all of the 6th edition Storm of Chaos lists too. Got the 'Ardboyz almost done and a Cult of Slaanesh in process. I can’t vouch for how balanced any of these are, I’m just translating everything over as closely as I can.
