I had a evil dream last night of bringing burning death and destruction to all our enemies.
I wondered if any of the CDO group has done this or thought of it.
Buy 2 each Magma Cannons to be pulled into battle behind the Iron Daemon.
Reading the rules that if you just run the Daemon at slow speed it does not count as moving the cannons for the move or shoot rule.
Don’t just drag them up the battlefield and drop them off. Keep them chained to the Daemon all over the board spewing steam and fire everywhere. One cannon could even be dragged backwards to cover the rear.
This would really help the short range of the Cannons.
It is a bit pricey, at 545 points for a 2000 point army but maybe for a 2500 point or 3000 point game.
I just checked, these would have to be in a 3000 point game. It is 3 special choices. But then I could take 6 Hobgoblin bolt throwers.

I mean yes, the Magma Cannon seems like the prime candidate for any towing shenanigans.
There are still a few open questions about it though:
- At which movement is a war machine moved under an Iron Daemon’s Carriage Hauler special rule? It’s own (so 3") or at the movement of the Iron Daemon (so 5" or 5+D6" for Lumbering Destruction)? Is this similar to Dragged Along?
- Can a war machine be towed out of combat this way if the Iron Daemon is not engaged in close combat itself?
I’ve sent these to GW, but given that they are only applicable to a legacy army, I don’t really expect an answer.
