Valuation?

Hi guys,

Something I’ve been thinking about for a while; I might sell my Chaos Dwarf Ogres…

I love the army and thinking about selling them hurts my heart a bit, but it’s been gathering dust for almost 10 years now and I don’t think I’m going to use them any time soon.

But then the question is, what would it be worth? And I’m hoping that’s where you can help me.

What would be a good price I could offer this army for?

They are awesome!! Are they all conversions?
I find them so thematic, and the oversized bodies pair so well with the aesthetics.
Don’t sell them, that’s my take :pc06:

Haha yeah everything’s sculpted/converted.

If you’re interested, you can see the army blog from way back here:

The army is almost old enough to get its drivers license :scream:

Oh my god, they’re SO awesome! Such an amazing hobby project, just dripping with soul…
This is the sort of stuff I remember from the old CDO forum. I could never bear selling something like this!
Took a good look at the old archive and I’m very impressed by the work you put in.

Even if you don’t have the space for a display cabinet, at least pack them tightly in a box somewhere. This makes me wish there was a warhammer museum somewhere.

It’s something so unique, so customised, that it defies any easy valuation.

Utility-wise it will be worth at least as much as a regular used Ogre army of the same size. It will turn off a lot of people who just want a usable army but the right buyer will pay a lot more.

I would never consider selling something like this as long as I have room for a couple of boxes in my closet.

This is definitely off the charts unique!

I’ve seen fully painted armies on EBay go for around 1000-1500USD but I would put a minimum bid for sure. But if your goal is to give them a give home, is there anyone in the local Old World community who might want to buy it? Or maybe someone who wants to lease it from you for a couple of years and use it in Old World tournaments or fun games?

I’ve had a few armies over the years that I put serious work into and then sold and later really strongly wished I had not. This is beautifully done with lots of skilled work into it. Unless you are getting completely out of hobby, or just really need the funds, I recommend not selling.

Yeah, I might just box them away for the time being and put them in storage.

Just looking at the models again makes me want to build some more though, so maybe that’s a better idea ;p

Any interest in playing the old world? I think we’d all be down to read an ogre kingdoms/Chorf battle report! : )

Glad you didn’t sell them as they are awesome and I couldn’t afford to make a offer

The whole reason CDO exists is because I was looking to see how much money I could get for my small collection of Chaos Dwarf models.

I registered for the Hand of Hashut forum and began lurking. Then I saw amazing hobby work by @Grimstonefire and Exquisite Evil and ended up buying some Battle for Skull Pass Dwarfs and began converting.

Incidentally, I became friends with the guy who sold me the Dwarfs, and he eventually helped me to get a job in Programming, which led to me meeting my future wife.

So, it’s a good omen to not end up selling your Chaos Dwarfs. Take it from me. It basically steered the course of my entire life in a weird way. :upside_down_face:

My wife needs to know about this. I will further posit that one’s happiness in life (and marriage) is directly proportional to the size of one’s Chaos Dwarf army!
