Hi, this is a lore-related question
We want to play a narrative scenario and we decided to test High Elves vs Chaos Dwarfs. It will be my first time with Chaos Dwarfs: I will re-use my SkullPass Dwarfs + Hoblins + some Black Orcs maybe. We will play 6th edition.
While I’m still thinking about the list, I realized I don’t know too much about the Chaos Dwarfs: why are they attacking the High Elves? What could be a reason strong enough (beyond getting elven slaves) for the Dawi-Zharr to ship (I guess it will involve ships) to Ulthuan?
Please give a couple of good reasons to justify why are the HE fighting the CD (or viceversa)
Thank you!

From the warhammer wiki :
“The only thing that prevents the Chaos Dwarfs from venturing further than the tip of the Southlands is an High Elven city-fortress, the Fortress of Dawn, that overlooks the Cape of Absolution. From here mighty Dragonships, Eagleships and Hawkships crush any fleet impetuous enough to attempt passage around the headland. The High Elves maintain this blockade at great cost in bloody sea battles against any who try to pass.”
So a siege of the fortresses of dawn is more than probable.
Go and crush the weak elves, deamonsmith !

I remember something once mentioned about the blood of elves being particuarly potent for Daemonsmith magic and sacrifices.

Well, I would call that a provocation, definitive a grudge.
Thank you! I’ll make it fall
That’s actually a good reason. I mean, it’s basically logistical needs. If the blood of the elves is like modern day rare earths, my society would collapse if I’m not able to repair my i-daemons…

Chaos Dwarfs vs High Elves is sort of a classic matchup - it’s the batrep present in their Army Book! I believe they are fighting over a magic item in that one.

I remember the pictures! What I remember not is who had the magic item. At the end, greed is a perfect excuse for any army to fight another, even their own kind.
