Xander's Helsmith Conversions

The Kollossus and the Earthshaker!

Committed to some gluing for the mock-ups that I had made with blue tac!

If you didn’t see my other thread, I mocked up a taller Dominator Engine using the forearms of the cannon variant. I used some sprue goo here and there to space things out and to fill in some gaps. I decided to go some one mace and one modified cannon arm. Since I used those forearms, I had to attach the cannon muzzle on the regular arm. I like this well enough even if it is a small compromise to have the taller pose.

Next up is the Tormentor Bombard, which I modified to look more like an Earthshaker Cannon. I used the wider cannon muzzle from the Dominator Engine in place of the long and thin cannon of the Bombard.

Rather than glue together the extra wide wheels, I used them as 4 separate wheels and added some plasticard axles.

To do this, I used my Dremel to drill away some of the chassis so that I could fit the axles in place. I used a pipe cutter for the first time for the axles; that was neat.

I also had to drill through the furnace a bit, which maybe looks a bit strange, but I like to imagine the Daemon furnace can now power the rear wheels!:+1:

Thanks for looking!

Yes Xander!

The king of conversions strikes again. I really like that Earthshaker conversion, the stubby canon turned out great and the 4 wheels looks very nostalgic. 10/10

It’s crazy how different the dominator looks with so few changes, big changes obviously but not many right. Also the dude in front is such a great touch, the whole thing is very imposing.

Have you thought as far as colours and painting yet?

Absolutely brilliant idea. That deamonsmith looks so pleased with himself!

Thanks so much guys!

No ideas on colours yet. I haven’t even settled on the look of the troopers or the aesthetic direction with respect to the helmets or anything.

For those wondering, the Earthshaker can fit on 100x60, 100x50 and just barely on 75x50.

This could be made even smaller by foregoing the rear platform of course. :+1:

4 wheels on that cannon look so much better. Your conversion is so much better than the original.

Im dying for someone to put a chaos dwarf pilot with joysticks and driving goggles in the gut of the metal minotaur.

Looking good. Will you put the smoke on the dominator gun (both of them)?

just wondering, is that mechabull really that tall? or did you elongated/repositioned its joints?

It’s legs are extended with a spare set of forearms from the kit.

Nope, I have different plans.

Thanks Zodd!

Sounds like a fun idea with the pilot. But if you can see the pilot, he’s probably not very well protected. :stuck_out_tongue:

lololol, yeah, it’s never stopped GW.

I mean, the Grey Knight I could accept, since Terminator armour is meant to be practically impenetrable.

Then the pilot says, “hold my beer”, and takes off his helmet. :joy:

If the minobot gets cheap on the 2nd hand market ill make the cd pilot work. Steam power rather than daemon essence

Haha, sounds fun! :flexed_biceps:

I look forward to it.

Loving the four wheel look on the bombard! It feels much more in line with the Legion of Azgorh range with just that one change.

Thanks you guys! More to come. :flexed_biceps:

Your first photo here with your computer cables etc in the background behind the giant, made me think it could be cool to have a dominator chained to the ground. Like ready to be unleashed

That could be cool. Or have some chaos Dwarfs holding restraining chains in a similar fashion.

Got some more pics taken:

Holy Hashut these are cool! Simple headswaps make a big difference, and i love the repurposed Hellcannon crew.

Mostly though, I want to see that daemonsmith with the flame (?) pillar painted up.
