Fantasy Tsar tank for inspiration
I simply have to cobble one those together. Now where to find the partsā¦
Agree⦠but thereās something very high fantasy and technical era appropriate about the thought process of taking a ship directly and making it work on land. There is definitely some merit to keeping some clearly ship based design elements and incorporating tank details along the way.
Though Chaos Dwarfs are juggernaught and land train oriented already⦠so go nuts with whatever designs you can think of!
Why do I now want to make a land ship with legs? Preferably something wooden and ācog-likeā with an obscene number of very small metal legs and feet a la luggage in the Terry Pratchet books.
Mmmm, probably the wine.
But it would be cool.
Just need to think of a counts as to give it vague justificationā¦
Probably cos you might be ā¦slightlyā¦errā¦unhinged! Haha
DO IT!
Itās decided, itās going to be the wooden ship! Now I āonlyā need large wheels that fit (I also had the idea of the legs, but the already large ship would simply take up too much space with them), an engine, cannons and a suitable crew. Iām afraid that this will be a year-long project.
In addition, I have started to base the acolytes of the Hashut. Is a bit tricky as they are skirmish models that donāt really fit well on corner bases. Letās see how it looks on the movementtray in the end. And I need matching chaotic shields, do you have any ideas?
Maybe this video will give you some good ideas on building a landship. He also does an ork tank as well. Between the 2 a landship is possible.
Thank you for the link!
I know the rough direction by now, what Iām missing in particular are big cool wheels, preferably Steam Punk-like. Everything else will come after that.
You can look for O it G scale vintage farm tractor, or wagon wheels. If they donāt work directly, they should give you a good base for building bigger steampunk wheels.
Lego also makes wagon wheels that might give you a start.
Or start with a large piece of PVC pipe for the outside and a smaller piece of PVC pipe for the hub. And build out the spokes with rod or styrene.
Here is my GH entry - āSupervisor with Overseersā:
And once again I couldnāt hide which one was my entry!
PS: Mmmmhh when I look at the base, I think I have to add something. It looks a bit empty and unfinished somehow. Funnily enough, I didnāt notice it before - why ever?
⦠to be continued!
Nice warmachine diorama! Great choice of miniatures.
Several people on the Swedish tournament scene who invest more time into their armies tend to use bunches of small modelling flowers. I donāt know where one can order them out of hand, but the result of mixing several different colours of flowers along with modelling grass and sand on the bases is fantastic. Itās such a simple way to improve the look of a model and its base, by making the vegetation come alive.
Basically, the simple recipe for upgrading the look of bases is to add on more layers: Sand, grass, at least two different types of flowers and perhaps even some moss.
Good idea to go with the cog! I believe it will fit your army better, though a monitor would have worked as well.
A great model, and well executed. Your style is probably the most recognizable of anyone on CDO! Beautiful details. The diorama tells the story. So cool that they are bringing yet another head to launch from the warmachine.
Lovely as always. Thereās is always a story to your entries, I love them
You without a doubt have the most recognizable modelling style of anyone here.
I really liked the old school feeling of this entry, it was in my runner up choice for voting.
Thank you very much for the pleasant comments!

I need your help / inspiration! I got myself a unit of āAcolytes of Hashutā. They are supposed to function as a special faithful unit, but what I am missing is a suitable colour scheme for the guys. At first a red / black scheme came to my mind, but that is somehow too obvious / conventional. Do you have an idea what kind of colour scheme could fit?
I like rusty white

What models are they? Seeing them will certainly help decide I think
Yeah, think we need to see the models. But off white and red might work well for acolytes. Basically your colour schemeā¦
I will use this models (old Chronopia miniatures), on the one hand with spears and on the other (as in the picture) with swords.

You could do cream/white shoulder pads and dark red cloaks or the opposite way around. I like purple so you could do purple robes white should pads etc. Whatever you pick Iām sure will be good
On 2nd thoughts the white might class with the helmet hornsā¦so Iād make armour red or purple and cloak bleached bone/white
