[Archive] [01-03-2010] -m3lvins CHAOS DWARFS (pic heavy)

theblackmage:

that…that is just…beyond words…

I mean, that’s just pure awesome on a stick, it’s just so amazing I think I’m going to cry, ot beging worshiping.

The detail on the mast is just great, you wouldn’t mind if I borrowed this idea would you (mine will suck in comparison. but hey :))

Kera foehunter:

Now that’s some great work!! like your army so far!! the bull centaur is best

m3lvin:

theblackmage: It’s totally ok to borrow the idea, I’would only be honoured. :cheers

Just let me now when your done, looking forward to see it.

The mask was sculpted so it would match the skull on his shield, therefore the design.

If you have any questions, just ask. I’m glad to help!

m3lvin:

So, time for a little update.

first let me show you a picture of the great weapon regiment,

all together (as I said I would).

they got shields on their backs now, but I still have to figure out a cool standard.

I also started with my blorcs, made a test model, removed all ugly orc tags, and tried to make it a little more chaotic.

I have plans to place normal orc heads on their bodies, and then sculpt cool masks over them.

I also started to build bolt throwers, 4 of them. :hashut

I had no intention to use bolt throwers in my army at first, but when i saw furrie’s brilliant idea using the pony wagon I just had to :D.

Below I show you some w.i.p of them, I’m also working on a tutorial on how to do them! watch out for that

blu-tac is your friend! (or as we call it in sweden:“häftmassa”:D)

(size comparison)

---------------------------------------

And last, I started to paint a little bit, making a basing test.

And by the way, I’ve posted rules for my experimental warmachine; “the skulltank”,

in the rules development section, along with some sketches of it. take a look!

Skulltank

…and If you cant get enough of pictures I put up one more of my works today in the artwork section:

check it out!

well that’s all for me today, now I need sleeeeep.

Kera foehunter:

Nice work !! love your bolt thower!! cool and home made

clam:

This is one of the best BfSP conversion CD armies - I’ve seen in a very long time.

Love your work - and glad that not every one falls for stupid hat ;D Nice to see some helmets and masks for a change.

And that Lord turned out so nice, the beard, the facemask the helmet, the … - all just: … WOW!

- and being so heavily converted one might wonder, why use a plastic dwarf at all. Think you have the skills to do a complete self sculpted lord.

Looking forward to see these/some of these in colours

Grimstonefire:

I really like the way you’ve left this open to do a weapon swap. It’s not something you see very often on here. Infact I can’t remember anyone else doing this.

The sculpting is quite good as well! Converting dwarfs to stand with one foot on anything is always a challenge.

tjub:

Rare earth magnets is a great way to do changable weapons options.

Gelli:

holy hashit! that’s awesome! can’t believe the hero, he just oozes chaosnessies (how’s it spelt?, sorry :frowning: ), the way you’re making chaos dwarfs look like chaos is fantastic + it’s good to see such an original army with helmets, 3rd ed is the way to go.

Da Crusha:

fantastic lord! I really like the direction your going on your army, keep up the good work!

Zanko:

Amazing, awesome work!!! :hat off

I´m breathless!!! :cheers

Really outstanding greenstuff abilities!!! :hat off

Want to see more sketches and conversion work!!! :cheers

                 :hashut

m3lvin:

Thanks everybody for the nice comments, I appreciate all your feedback! :hat off

Clam: I was thinking about making the lord from scratch from the beginning, but I had almost no greenstuff left (atleast not to make his bulky body) + I was eager to start playing small warband battles, so I couldn’t wait until I had bought some more.

But as you can see in the early pics were I’ve stripped all the unnessesary details of him, his practically nothing more than a plastic blob

I’ve made some scratch models before, and I even plan scratch building both a taurus and lammasu later in this project, now that I’ve bought more of that green gold :cheers

tjub: rare earth magnets? now you’re getting me confused, whats that?

I have over 80 3mm neodym magnets in a box, but those are reserved for my 3 carnifexes

Anyhow, the pinning I used worked great, Its just a filed down goblin spear ;).

Zanko: more conversions and sketches will come, that’s a promise!! :cheers

I have mostly drawn CD the past days (as you’ve might seen in the artwork thread)

so now I long for working some on the three dimensional ones!

I’ll grab my sculptingtool the first thing I do in the morning

Ah, I guess its more or less the same... :)

Hrothgar Goldgreed:

Zanko, did you really have to copy the whole blog?

Awesome stuff, very inspirational. Keep going!

Zanko:

@ Hrothgar Goldgreed: Sorry! Won´t do it again! :frowning:

:hashut

warh:

Grymt!!

Jag kommer nog låna lite idéer från dig:P

vart i Sverige bor du?

m3lvin:

It’s been a while since I’ve posted here, so I’ll better show you what I’ve been up to the past week.

Even though I’ve been pretty busy with other stuff, I’d still manage to convert some veerrry sneaky hobgoblins, in fact, 20 of them!

bring forth the sneaky gitz!

and fourth.

here some more pics:

(poor quality pictures, sorry for that.)

tested to glue them onto cork with PVA glue, and actually they stuck quite well, even though they have small skaven feets.

I added the boots/slipper later, and the drops/slime on the blades are supposed to venom.

I added these in the conversion forum aswell, but It’s pretty much the same thing.

my summer vacation is over now, starting school tomorrow :frowning:

not much spare time anymore, but still its an art school, so i’ll probably get around painting some more dwarfs :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Anyhow, I’ll soon post my bolt thrower tutorial, and perhaps you’ll even get too see some blorcs by the end of the week.

warh: jag studerar i gävle för tillfället,(bor 5 mil därifrån)

men egentligen är jag en skogstomte
