[Archive] [1-3-18] Willmark's Homemade Terrain Thread

Willmark:

One of my goals has been to get more of my photos online this year so hopefully I’ll be adding shots of terrain I have done of over the years.

This bell tower was done about 6 years ago for my Empire army.

Willmark:

Here is some more terrain from my table, a forge based on the terrain from the 4th edition days.

Willmark:

Here is some more, a tower made from a milk carton, some ruins with “faires” deliberately misspelled, and a barn. The ruins are a direct copy from teh Warhammer Townscape book.

clam:

Mission completed. Think you’ve uploaded more pictures the last few week, then the last 12 months before that

And it’s always nice seeing terrain for a change. Don’t see much of that around here. Maybe we shold have a seperat terrain section - her in the hobby section - so it’s ‘known’ that we do like to see terrain pieces too.

- and then ‘great work’ - but I really don’t need to say that, do I - think you already know that

Kera foehunter:

That some nice work willmark !! nice graffiti

Heh, Word of Hashut my friend, Word of Hashut, its voracious on my spare time.

As far as a terrain section I don't know if there is enough of it to warrant its own section.

Grimstonefire:

Do you still have the forge? I know the scale might be a little out, but that would be awesome repainted as a CD forge.

Willmark:

I do but the scale would indeed be off. Of anything I’d make a new one for CDs.

Word of what? - never heard of it - is that a game, too?? - with miniatures or just terrain? :D

And you a probably right about it's own sub-section - but by giving it a sub section on it's own - we could more easily compile all these awesome showcases, tutorrials, advices and ideas - and inspire people to do/show us more etc.

Willmark:

Perhaps a sub section, we’ll talk it over.

Grimstonefire:

Perhaps we should

Kera foehunter
Indeed, perhaps we should... As Willmark already said?

Kera foehunter:

Indeed ,perhaps we should to agree with grims

i second it!! I move to put it to a vote

Joshmohr:

Wow- great job! What material do you use? I use “Foam Board”

Willmark:

I use balsa wood, crescent board, Popsicle sticks, rocks, you name it.

Willmark:

Here is my first piece of scenery from the 1997 time frame that I fully constructed & actually kept, a inn/tavern. Now a bit for the name; Fatty Jack would not have been the name I went with, but my girlfriend at the time (now wife) suggested it… so there ya go. I decided to take it and run with it so I painted the sign board to represent a Jack from a deck of playing cards.

I also used of the old cardboard cutouts from the Warhammer card-stock terrain (again the Warhammer Townscape Book) to add some flair.

Willmark:

Some shots of a Empire chapel of Sigmar I did about 8 years ago:

RoguePanda:

I really like the scenery there Willmark, it’s got character with each bit you put in. I am very impressed with the tiny posters on the side of the inn - they are fantastic - did you do them in a computer and down size them, or did you do some mad free hand work :o Also, the hammer stained glass window is a lovely touch on the Chapel.

Now you have got me thinking - what would a Chaos Dwarf tavern look like?  Hmmm…

Willmark:

Bump.

Looks like I need to update this thread and fix the links…

Willmark:

Not my own creation, its from the General’s Compendium. Its almost complete, just need to create the roof, and a few more sections of gravel (like near the entrance).

In all it came together well but the paper-mache warped the foam core. It would have been better if I mounted it on some think plywood but I didn’t have any handy.

For the interior its just odds and ends from my bitz box and left over sprue stuff.

Willmark:

Two updates in one night after no updates for 9 years, got to be a record!

About the only good thing that came out of the PhotoBucket debacle for me? In going through photos I found these. Like the others up thread these are scans of photos probably taken around 2000.

The townhouse was featured in a White Dwarf, forget exactly which one so I recreated it.

So Photobucket’s screw-up is your gain, at least as far as my photos go.
