Hashut’s Blessing:

I hadn’t noticed the line at all  I was too busy looking at all of the good things about it  I guess that’s one advantage for you to post the picture big. You can find what you’re not happy with, improve it and have everyone else praising you  You’re most welcome for the comments. They are, after all, rightly deserved.

Abyss:

well, i dont know how many of you looked at my big hats thread in the conversion section but i thought it was about time i showed the results of my casting.

these are the casts which had no problems with them. i found that 2 of the cast seem 2 suffer quite badly from air bubbles even though i’ve tried pokeing around the mould with a needle etc. so i havn’t been able to paint these yet

oh and this is a conversion from a while bak, i know its been done to death but i really love the original model and so it was great to actually have an excuse to buy it.

one of the things 2 note which i havn’t seen come up in ishkur’s casting thread is that there are other resins available out on the market than the polyurethane ones, the one i used for this was a polyester resin, its actually horrible stuff i keep getting high off of the fumes, but its dirt cheap. i got mine for a 6th of what the polyurethane would have cost me. another problem is its quite brittle, but i thought that for beginners to casting who aren;t looking to lay out too much money then it could be worth knowing.

peace out

Knight Of Awsome:

There looking really good, but you my want to try some highlighting on some of them to make them look more lively.

Ishkur Cinderhat:

The casts turned out quite useable IMO. Some of these will probably get a shield anyway so don’t bother too much about a missing detail here and there. You might want to paint some more decoration / details onto the hat, though. They look a bit plain now.

torn:

i think the bonus with casting blank hats is that you can then decorate them all individually if you wish, or, leave them blank so the champions/heroes hats stand out more.

i use polyester resin and i hate it! i have just realised its the same stuff the floor tilers use to fill holes in at work, but probably of a different texture. the smell is quite strong with this type, so whereas its cheaper, you do need somewhere to do it in where you wont be poisoning yourself. to be honest the one im using isnt brittle, its actually very solid.

Abyss:

yer my origional idea with leaving the hats blank was to make the characters and champions etc. however i could add some more details to the hats and recast if i decided to.

@ iskur, just wondering if u cut away part of the arms on ur dwarfs so that the shield didn’t cover up as much of their face? i did this as it was annoying that i had done all the work just to have it covered up

Ishkur Cinderhat:

It’s a matter of taste, I suppose. I actually quite like the idea of the dwarf warriors being almost covered from heat to toe by their shields.

Kera foehunter:

omg!!! those heads are too cool!!!

AGPO:

Awesome work, my one suggestion would be to try and get a flatterfinish paint wise on the hats. As a rule of thumb, remember that two or three thin coats ALWAYS look better than one thick one
