[Archive] 2012 Brush Slave League - "warh" BSL 2012 Champion

clam:

It’s really a grey zone - and a bit hard to make a firm statment without exactly knowing what it is.

But…

If you diorama consist of 3 humanoid creatures. And your entry (team) follows a distinct theme and all look like appropriated gaming miniatures, I cant’t see it as a problem, that they are on a diorama (single base), and not based individually.

But do remember, that “all bases must be finished” - so this rule will apply to the overall diorama.

How big is it? - and in what scale will it be?

This, 15mm FoW piece here, done by Tjub:

Actually follows the rules (if it was an entry for BSL) - but if we start seeing to many, tiny men on a single base (or nurgling swarms etc) - I might ask for 3 individual based miniatures - so don’t abuse it, please

Hazkar:

Big thumbs up to all of you, there are some pretty nice minis in that contest.

And some pretty big thumbs up for Clam for the organisation of the wohle BrushSlaveLeague

maded12:

I’ve voted in every one of them. I would like to say that I love every entry and that all painters should be proud of their work!

Ghrask Dragh:

Thanks Ghrask D - and feel free to join us

clam
Thanks man, if I was even remotely reliable I might take you up on that :hat off

Still, with the whole league situation... hmmm

clam:

All it takes is 3 miniatures - next deadline is 31st March  - but there will be others

Ghrask Dragh:

Apologies for my ignorance here, when you say themed it’s just 3 miniatures realted to each other not an overall theme?

So if ive got a load khorne minis I want to paint I can submit that team?

Its just about getting through that unpainted pile of lead

Borador:

Clam, correct me if I’m wrong

A team consists of at least 3 “humanoid” creatures, which are somehow related to each other. Your example of khorne miniatures is just fine  they could also be related on other points, e.g. sports, cooking and practically everything else, as long as the general theme is clear, it’s ok! There is no overall theme for all rounds, just a “theme” for every certain round.
You could however enter miniatures following the same theme EACH round, to get trough theead pile.

For themed rounds (kinda like special rounds) you can either enter a team following the round’s theme, or a normal team. Following the themed round’s theme results in bonus points.

clam:

Yes, Borador is right.

A team must of at least 3 humanoid miniature (see rules for deails about robots, machines etc) and must follow a single, distinct theme. Theme is totally up to you - but should be clear to others. If your theme isn’t quite so obvious, use the compulsory team name/title to make it clear.

When you are done, your in and can compete with it for the rest of the season - but …

If your one team competes in all 8 rounds, some might start to find it boring - and simply stop voting for it (even if it’s painted to a high standard) - and remember that there is actually only “one point” at stake.

So, you might like to earn some of those sweet bonus points. Only way is to replace you team with a new one. For every new team (after your first one) you’ll be rewarded 3 points.

Round 5 and 8 will have an extra bonus of 2 points, for a new team that is entered and that follows a “pre-determined” theme (is still to be announced) - so 5 bonus points in total (if round 5/8 is your first, only 2 for “theme”, though). So, only in these two rounds you can say that we have an “overall theme” - but let me make it clear: “it’s you decision”. Its your call if you want to make a new team for these rounds(any rounds) and even if you do make a new team for the “theme rounds” it’s still up to you whether it follows the pre-determined theme or not.

So 3 is good, more is better - to painting :cheers

clam:

Polls are running out today. Something like 9 hours left, so if you’d like to vote, but haven’t done it yet, now is probably the right time to do so

clam:

I have made the round 5 announcement and revealed the theme for our first themed round:

http://www.chaos-dwarfs.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=10775

clam:

Okay, we had 16 new entries for round 2. 3 new participants (Welcome to: Mostyn, Dervish Helldance, Bas_2312) and 13 new team replacements (see post #44 in the Round 2 announcement). I’m very impressed by your commitment and with the quality of your works. Thanks guys.

Will start look into the match up’s - and then get the polls set up. With some luck the voting will be ready tonight.

DAGabriel:

Hard one, i love Unzul`s Zombie pirates!

furrie:

Great job everyone.

This message was automatically appended because it was too short.

ryanamandaanna:

great entries from everyone!

Obsidian Muse:

I’m a bit surprised that with each team you include the names of the painters in question. Personally I don’t mind, but I thought that all entries were anonymous.

clam:

As said after first round it was an absolute nightmare keeping track of painters vs. teams. So to make it more ease I have added (and will continue to do so) you username to your entry.

Being anonymous has never been an official part of the concept. Could be a nice touch, but with 20 entries with just title simply makes it too time consuming for me, doing match up’s and award points (these are based on “artist” and not team). Hopefully you understand  And to be honest, don’t really think that knowing the names has any effect on voting. After first round, or previous showcase threads, think most us us can guess who did what anyway.

vulcanologist:

Well done everyone! Another great standard and variety from everyone!

Mostyn:

I’ll second that; well done everyone, I really enjoyed looking through all the entries.

And ‘extra double plus good’ thanks to Clam for doing all the hard work.  Even if you did keep everyone in suspense for what felt like a very long time on Sunday.  ;)

For that, I am sorry - but wife had other priorities. She wanted me to pick up her new car. And you know what it means when your partner says "jump", right? ;)
