[Archive] 6 Hour Painting Marathon

Pyro Stick:

Good point about the timezones Pyro, maybe doing it at the same time could be optional, if your in the right timezones then cool go for it but if your not just concentrate on getting the 6hours done the same day as everyone else, or atleast the same month :) as long as all who are particpating keep posting at the start and end of their marathons it should be cool... right? :~

Ghrask Dragh
I guess that is the only way around it. It would be way too complicated to time it so that we all start at exactly the same time.

Thats 11 participants so far so doeas everyone want to try this out this coming Sunday? From 12 till 6?

Sojourn:

well good, because I only have faeries and such. the only CD I have I converted and painted already for the GHVI just passed. ;)

Sojourn
Ahh yes I liked your GH entry, she has very nice... err... eyes ;)

Ghrask Dragh
ahahaha! Thank you Ghrask! n_n I was very proud of her! :) my first ever attempt at GSing too!

well, I have "class" for my accounting designation from 8.30-5... so why don't we say aim for Sunday (I may do a couple hours this weekend) but the deadline to post is by Saturday or the following Sunday? how does that work for everyone? because I KNOW I'm out of the country for 3 nights next week!

Geckilian:

6 hours eh? I reckon I could manage a fair amount in that time…

Count me in, but not for this Sunday. Ideally I reckon it should be two posts a month (or more) per person, one for every 6 hour session with before and after pics. That way we can schedule it around our own activities, whilst still maintaining 2 update a month.

I’m quite happy with this, since I also post 1/month or more on the Bolter and Chainsword forum for my Chaos Space Marines in the Call of Chaos project (in the WIP section).

Pyro Stick:

Obviously not everyone is going to be able to take part all the time so we cant put it off if one or two people cant take part.

If we all did 6 hour sessions at completely random times through out the months then that would defeat the purpose of the whole thing. The purpose is for a lot of people to take part at the same time so that you know you are not alone in what you are doing and that you are painting this much for a reason, which is to show the other peope that are taking part what you have done at the same time as they have been painting. This is a group thing. If we did it at random times then it would be no different to updating your army blog.

So who can take part this sunday? I would only like to do this if there are more than 10 and at the moment there are 10 taking part and 2 not being able to take part this sunday (12 altogether).

Ghrask Dragh:

I’m in for this Sunday!

Good idea having over ‘X’ amount for it to go ahead, 10 out of 12 sounds fair.

my first ever attempt at GSing too!

Sojourn
Impressive for your first bit of sculpting, I hope you keep it up!

Sounds good if you can’t make the marathon day for that month, but remember we will all be looking at the times to make sure the 2 posts are within 6-7 hours of each other

By the way hello Geckilian, you joined while I was away. Your BB team is seriously cool, are you planning this to be for a Chaos Dwarf Army? more of your BB team? or another army/team alltogether?

Ishkur Cinderhat:

I’m in for Sunday afternoon… I have five half-painted Noise Marines waiting to be finished.

Geckilian:

Thanks Ghrask Dragh. My Chaos Dwarf army will have far more visible dulled metal in the scheme, but so far my current inclination is green and purple for the general army colours. The modelling will be along the newer mask style though, as I don’t have many old plastic Dwarfs left, nor do I have anywhere near enough Chaos Warrior heads and hands.

As for this Sunday, I always work on Sundays from 9.30 am till 4.30 am and don’t arrive back home till 9.50 pm, so painting for 6 hours is highly impractical for me on that day. Ah well, guess I’ll just watch to see then.

Narflung:

In for sunday. I was thinking this might be a good thing to announce on the homepage.

Theory_Man:

If its going to be this or next weekend, I’m out. I will be doing epic battle in PA next weekend and this weekend is filled with dish washing (my summer job). But I will try to make the next one. :cheers

Kera foehunter:

Kera foehunter:

i have to paint a ogre rat It a figure trade from another site.

Ghrask Dragh:

Ok, I’ve started at around 1 o’clock, I’m working on my Golden Deamon entry which I started yesterday. Chaos Dwarfs next month… I promise

Before…

Narflung:

Ok, here goes. It was a very distracted 6 hours.  I never have visitors just randomly drop in, until today. AND I had a huge hangover.

Sum total of work - 2 Warriors, 2 Blundies, and a bit of work on a Lammasu

My work area

Plastic fantastic warriors. I got a few off ebay, and some of them were very poorly undercoated (the really rough undercoat type). And that has affected the painjob a bit

Blunderbuss. One was already done, the other 2 were done today.

AND - lammasu WIP. just some minor work done today, to mix things up

Pretty productive for me. All basic colours. No highlights yet, just wanted to get them battle ready

What do you think?

Ishkur Cinderhat:

I was lucky enough to have done a big chunk of work on my Noise Marines already two days ago. So this is where I picked up at noon today…

and these are the finished pieces now. The colour scheme for the metal parts was shamelessly stolen from (i.e. inspired by) Tirli Pinpon. Cheers for the idea, mate! :hat off

Kera foehunter:

well i got distracted a bit .I did not even paint the figure i wanted  ( i need to get the ogre rat done ) but i painted a dragon slayer  untill brian came over and took me out to breakfast so i will try harder next time…

at least i got the first coat on.

Photo shot by brain… he made me right this

Ghrask Dragh:

:cheers  Nice work guys!!

Had to cut this early, turns out as soon as I finish the basecoat I don’t like the green, I’ve ordered some new paints and hopefully the green will turn out alot better.

After…
