Hashut’s Blessing:
I would like to participate, but at first, I was tentative due to the fact that it seemed a little too individualised. I.E. I think I’d enjoy it more if the people were THERE with me or if it were done with webcam and mic over MSN. However, I may start doing it anyway, I’ll just have to make sure that I can set aside six hours… I could get a new cam and film it and post on youtube, he he he. Still, next time, if I can, I’ll join in, but if anyone has a webcam and mic and want to do this with me, that’d be cooler.
As for timings, if people have each other’s MSN addresses, they can arrange to do it at the same time as some others etc via that. Or people state their timezone as GMT +/- X hours…
wallacer:
Hmmm… i don’t have net access on the weekends and didn’t see the new posts until now.
In future perhaps agree on a day a week or so beforehand and stipulate a specific date rather than “this Sunday”. That’ll give people a bit more warning and make it less confusing if this becomes a regular thing and this thread gets a lot bigger.
Anyhow… next Sunday (the 27th) is good for me. I’m probably a day ahead of most of you in terms of timezones so I guess i’ll be painting before you guys, but that won’t matter.

Ive got a webcam and a mic but i doubt many other people paint next to their comp.
If everyone is ok with it then they can post their msn address here but remember there is already an msn address thread
here.

I decided to do it just for a quick test this time and it looks like it was successful so now we can start planning ahead for next marathons. It doesnt always have to be on a sunday but is everyone ok with the 27th?
Sorry i havent posted my before and after pics but i was exhausted last night and i was away all morning, and then the new dragonforce album leaked so i had to check that out, but here goes finally:
Before:
Necromancer

After (out of the marauders only the first two are finished):
As you can see i didnt get far at all with the mage as i couldnt think of how i was going to paint him so all i done was his beard.
This hobgoblin was almost finished so i just finished him off for this

I also done some small bits and pieces on other models but not enough to take pics. So in all i only finished 4 models but the other marauders are not going to take me long to finish now.
wallacer:
Looks like you got a reasonable amount done.
Hopefully I can achieve something this Sunday too.
Hashut’s Blessing:
Sounds cool to me. If we do it this 27th, I shall have EvilClown round and so I am sure that we shall do a 6 hour painting session, which I shall post my results after. As for the MSN stuff, if people wish to add me, look at my profile or go to the thread that Pyro has rather kindly and handily posted a link to. Not sure how much CD stuff I have left to paint though. As for actual CDs, I have two bases and two models to do, the rest would be greenskins or non-CD related stuff, he he he.
Mosk:
I am painting my vampire count army right now, going to be working on ghouls and skele (not armor though on skel or clothes… not sure about color scheme) but i will show you what i got on thursday:) (my painting sucks)
wallacer:
I think i’ll paint my Rackham Wolfen figures. They’ve been on the to-do list for far too long.
Ghrask Dragh:
Just got the amazing demon bust from Kraken, if I dont already finish it by Sunday I’ll paint that guy!
(this isnt really next month so my earlier promise to do Chaos Dwarfs next month still stands
)
Mosk:
BTW - This is the second regiment i have EVER painted!!! my only other painted thing is a squad of imperial guard (not completed)
Ok so I am painting my vampire count army right now. my unit list for this is currently:
20 skeletons (two regiments of 10 each)
10 ghouls
20 grave gaurd
2 fel bats
10 dire wolves
5 black knights
1 blood dragon knight (classic) on horse
1 blood dragon on foot with HW and shield
1 flying vampire
1 white lord
1 wraith
I do not know what color scheme i will do with these guys, i am thinking purple, but not sure yet.
for my skeletons i used base coat chaos black, then light layer of scorched brown, then a light or drybrushed layer of bestial brown, and dry brushed bleached bone.
so there you have about 1.5 hours worth of work… sorry not three hours but still its progress.
Right now all i have done is painted the bones.
Hashut’s Blessing:
Looking good so far, Mosk. Getting that old, rotten flesh-stain look on the bones. Coming along nicely. If you use purple, don’t overuse it. Also, it can be good to offset it with some red (again, not too much), particularly as red is a colour associated with the Blood Dragons.
Mosk:
Ok so I finished my very first model EVER!!! a crypt ghoul in about 2.5 hours, ya it took a long time but i was so very indecisive on what colors to use
lol
I have started probably over one hundred figs, BUT NEVER FINISHED!!
so this is my very first finished product.
the color scheme (step by step) is:
for the skin…
1.) base coat chaos black
2.) Paint over this with Scorched Brown
3.) Dry brush bestial brown
4.) Dry brush Calthan brown
5.) Dry Brush Bleached bone
6.) Baal ink (red ink) cuts, boils, mouth, and hands.
7.) Lightly paint a little red gore on the cuts.
8.) Add another light dry brush of calthan brown (if needed i guess you may not need to)
9.) Lightly (very very very lightly) dry brush chaos black
10.) Dry Brush Astronomican Grey
11.) Dry brush Bleached bone
12.) Dry brush very lightly skull white
So just on the skin 9 different colors are used…
For the hair/fur
1.) Chaos black base coat
2.) shadow gray ( i think i am using a non GW paint but i believe it is shadow grey, its a purple almost grey, but it could be a diff grey.)
3.) dry brush astronomican grey
4.) dry brush codex grey
5.) Blue ink wash Asurmen blue
5.) Dry brush astronmican grey
6.) highlight/dry brush with skull white
This gave a blue hue to it, the pics make it look to blue, it rally is not that blue.
for the bones i used
1.) chaos black base
2.) scortched brown
3.) dry brush bestial brown
4.) dry brush bleached bone
so with that this entire model has a 12 color paint scheme
its not the best color scheme but i am going to stick with it, i like it, i think its better then the green tanish color
wallacer:
Well, it was a productive Sunday for me.
Before:

After:

Kera foehunter:
those are some kick *ss wolfen wallacer
what colors did you use for the dark flesh
i been trying to get a dark skin like that
could you tell me please!!!
your best friend kera
wallacer:
It’s just GW Scorched Brown with a GW Dark Flesh highlight (that’s why I managed to get them done in 6 hours).
Mosk:
Wallacer where did you get these figs, THEY ARE AWESOME!
And for 6 hours, you make me feel bad, I suck at painting your awesome !
wallacer:

Mosk
They are Rackham Miniatures Wolfen for their now pretty much defunct skirmish game, Confrontation.
Rackham Store Wolfen Section
Rackham Store Wolfen Devourer Section
Ghrask Dragh:
Great job on those Wolfen Wallacer!! nice choice of colours, impressive for just 6 hours :cheers
wallacer:
Painting quickly has never been my problem. My problem is motivating myself to actually start painting in the first place (God bless that Pyro Stick).
So… when is the next painting marathon?
Kera foehunter:
if you need some one to nag you all the time wallacer!!! give me you phone number
lol
wallacer:
The toll bill to New Zealand would be horrific.
Better to spend the money on Chaos Dwarfs, Kera.
I wonder if there’s much enthusiasm out there for another painting marathon this weekend?
