Pyro Stick:
This is another idea from HoH that fell through and died like everything else on there.
The idea is to sit down for one day a month/every 2 weeks and see how much you can paint in six hours and at the end of it post what you have done, with pics if you want to show exactly what you have done. Im sure there are loads of people here that find it difficult to sit down and get a lot of painting done, like me, so if enough of us signed up for this then it would really help to get a lot more of our armies completed and it would provide good motivation.
I’m willing to take part and organise this but who else would like to take part? Once there is about 10 or more people wanting to try it out we can set a time and date to start.

I would want to do this… I need to motivation, but I am prone to having to ditch plans last minute due to work or other commitments.
I’m in I guess
Ishkur Cinderhat:
Hm, wouldn’t this mean that everyone is showing off half-painted miniatures in the end?

Only if you spend more than six hours painting one mini. You could use the time to paint whatever you want like to finish of half painted minis. Take pcis before and after so that we can see how much you have painted. Most of my models are all half done so finishing off half painted models is what i would be doing.
wallacer:
This is, without doubt, the greatest idea in the history of the world.
I’m in
Pyro Stick:
Thats three already. Are you wanting to take part Ishkur or can you not paint a full model in six hours?
Kera foehunter:
well i don’t have a camera but i could do 6 hour of painting what about greenstuff or converting???
Theory_Man:
I will give it a try!
Is it okay to do 2 sessions of 3 hours in one day or do you have to do the 6 hours straight?
And does this marathon require that we paint CD stuff?

Theory_Man
Good point... I only have non-CD stuff left to paint.
Ghrask Dragh:
I was in over there and I’m in over here too, though I have to say Sunday is the only day where I would have that much time to put aside for painting, is that cool?
I think it would be cool to paint something else other than Chaos Dwarfs, the idea is to get people who tend to take a long time to do anything, like me, and get some painting out of them!! So I don’t think it’s a Chaos Dwarf thing at all.
It’s only one day a month so people will have the rest of the month to prepare any Green-stuff or conversions ready for that day, might be extra motivation for conversions too
Narflung:
Hmm, I’m going to be short on time soon, but I’m tenativeley in… Good idea, bad timing for me
Sousunou:
Im in, my pics will be delayed in going up because i only have the net at work or a friend’s, but that aside, sounds like a plan! :cheers

You can do 2 sessions of 3 hours if you want or 3 sessions of 2 hours. It doesnt really matter but the more breaks you take the less you will get done.
If you dont have any CD stuff to paint then you dont need to paint CD's but i will be. Ocassionally i might pick up a TK or a WE if i get bored.
I suggest everyone build a six hour playlist and get it on your mp3 of choice (Zune FTW!) or if your comp is near your paint station get a six hour playlist ready on your Media Player of choice.

Hi!
after about a year, without even thinking of Chaos Dwarfs , (:o) I have now returned to the forum and want to build and paint up an army of that lovely dwarfs:)
I think this painting session could be a nice way to start an army!
is it allowed to do conversions (greenstuffing) INSTEAD of painting in theese sessions? (as I have to convert myself a whole CD-army)
cheers, :cheers

I guess you could do conversions for the first few but since they are quite far apart you should be able to build up enough models to be able to paint instead of convert in later painting marathons.
edit: I just realised that we all live in different time zones so how will we be able to time it so that we all start and finish at the same time?

well good, because I only have faeries and such. the only CD I have I converted and painted already for the GHVI just passed. ;)
but *yay* I can't wait to do this, especially since I HAVE been trying to motivate myself to work on my army. I am like Narflung though, very little time right now. I will try to prep ahead of time and dedicate a night/a couple nights to it :)
Canix:
I would be into doing this i havent had much time for painting as Sebastian is now walking. No shortage of figures for me to finish:rolleyes:
It will help me to finish and i am curious as to how much i can paint in six hours:hat

I'm happy to participate. :hat off
And while I *could* probably paint a mini in 6 hours, I hardly ever paint single miniatures, but units. A typical unit of 5 will usually take two and half evening sessions of about 4-5 hours each.
Edit: are entries supposed to be CD-only, or would other stuff qualify as well?
Ghrask Dragh:

Hey no worries, it's once a month so this will be going on for a while. Remember, it's only
once a month for the big paint.

With the nature of green stuff taking a long time to cure before you can sculpt properly it might be a bit tough to get alot done in just 6 hours. Just a heads up, give it a go though, we'll find out for sure then ;)
Good point about the timezones Pyro, maybe doing it at the same time could be optional, if your in the right timezones then cool go for it but if your not just concentrate on getting the 6hours done the same day as everyone else, or atleast the same month :) as long as all who are particpating keep posting at the start and end of their marathons it should be cool... right? :~

(2 bad jokes in a row :o I'll get my coat)
