Good advice, Blood, as usual. Have some slaves for that :hat off.
I`ll make some further adjustments later on.

Helblindi:
Thanks for the reports. I was going to ask you what you thought of the qualities of the general on bale taurus, but you already discussed that in the end. Nice to hear it might be worth the points, because I have some plans for a carnotaur conversion, but I wanted to be sure I’d be able to use it. So if 9th is in any way still compatible with Tamurkhan, I’m making myself a Bale Taurus.
On a side note: if I understand the pictures correctly, I think you khan made an illegal charge on turn 3 in the game against the orcs. He is a single model, but if I’m correct, that only means he can pivot as much as he wants, EXCEPT on the charge, where he must also have a target in his forward arc. Could be there’s a picture missing, but judging by the orientation of your khan and the position of the chain squig, it seems like it was an impossible charge.
Nice reports, and the pictures make everything very clear.
TheHoodedMan:
Hi Helblindi,
thank you :cheers.
Regarding the Khan moving into the chain squig (orc battle, posts #5,6):
Chain squigs cant be charged according to their armybook rules. But same rule entry allows moving in contact with them (in german armybook "squig-o-geddon"). The unit who gets in contact gets 2d6 S6 hits. The chain squigs are destroyed. Afterwards the unit could move on if still standing ;).
So the Khan moved in and sacrificed himself to prevent the Chain Squigs from strangling the big ones, it was no charge ruleswise.
Youre right a single model can only charge enemies in its front arc, too.
Galka:
Congratulation. Again a nice report. Can’t wait to See more reports from you.
Good work so far.:cheers
Greetings
TheHoodedMan:
Thank you, lord of the lizardmen.
Let me send some slaves to you to care for your needs :hat off.
Fuggit Khan:
So the Khan moved in and sacrificed himselfBecause Hobgoblin Khans are noble warriors ;)

Helblindi:
Aha, thanks for the clarification! Never played against orcs before
Abecedar:
Its amazing how many times that such self-serving, back-stabbing, utterly sneaky critters who have clawed their way to the top of their proffesion, manage to “sacrifice” themselves for the greater good.
TheHoodedMan:
There are rumours why this could be so:
Some talk of mysterious substances given to the Khans before battle. Others talk of daemonsmiths who tell the Hobgoblin riders the details of the daylong rituals which are for servants who don`t fulfill their obligations in the name of Hashut.
And not last Khans are famous for a very high self confidence :).
Maybe all is true.
Abecedar:
I think a combination of the mysterious substance (maybe smeered on the wolfs fur/saddle without telling the rider) causing an over-abundance of said confidence
Galka:
Hey Hey my friend,
i think it’s time to looking forward to find a date for our game.
This week i gonna finish my Lizards. (I really love nicht shift
) They’re also pretty hungry cause of the painting. Standing still and not able to eat.
Oh by the way our Mr. lazy painter got bis army almost painted, the only thing missing is a Gyrocopter if i saw correctly.
Greetings H.
TheHoodedMan:
Ok, Ill pm you. My mobiles only working in my WLAN area at the moment because of the post strike.
TheHoodedMan:
Next game is scheduled against dwarfs on thursday. Hope I can take some pics and write something at the weekend.
Last time my opponent played his dwarfs fast and close combat oriented, was a very nice game. I expect a more conservative approach on his side this time.
For myself I`ll try something new.
TheHoodedMan:
Battle against Dwarfs
(8th edition, 2500 pts, German COMBAT comp)
This evening I went to my friend Marcus, who played Dwarfs.
He went for a list with two cannons and one multibarrel cannon, 1 runesmith, 1 king with shieldbearers, 2 machinists, army standard bearer.
The two fighting heroes were in a hammerer unit (about 20), then there were 28 longbeards hw/s, some miners (16 or so), 2 x 5 rangers with crossbows and about 15 crossbowmen
Myself had NO lord or bsb. 1 demonsmith lvl2 metal, general, 1 demonsmith lvl 1 metal, 1 khan on wolf, 2 Tauruks (1 dragonhelm, dawnstone, great weapon/ 1 swift slaying sword, charmed shield, luckstone). 24 fireglaives s, m, 36 hobgoblins hw/s fcm in the core,
2 death shrieker rockets, 1 iron demon hellbound, 6 BC renders, greatweapon, fcm, gleaming pennant and last but not least 1 Kdaii Destroyer.
I thought he would bring no magic, and would probably stay back, so I`ll defensively need no prophet. A taurus would be risky anyway because of the cannons.
I would use this points for a really hard hitting bull centaur block, to move fast over the field of battle.
Run of the battle follows in the next post for better structure.
TheHoodedMan:
Run of the battle
Magic:
I had the -1 armor spell, the +1 to Hit spell and searing doom.
Deployment
Marcus deployed his dwarfs central and the war machines distributed but with good angled to the terrain pieces.
This was one of the darkest hours of Dawi Zharr strategy. I wanted to deploy the war machines not too far behing because of the miners but this lead to nothing but too less place for my bull centaurs which I deployed at my right side with the destroyer.
He placed his rangers (scouts) on my left side near my hobgoblin block.
Advance moves: He had marching runes and ran his two fighting blocks in the direction of my fireglaives.
The dwarfs won turn 1, his characters hated my characters (dice roll dwarf armybook).
note the massive amount of space the bull centaurs take
Abecedar:
D6 -2 movement for playing in mud?
Thanks for sharing your battle.
TheHoodedMan:
I know the table is not aesthetically top notch ;), neither is my own from the first two battles.
At the moment I try to improve my table a little (no special chaos dwarf table, but a “normal” green table). I began several terrain features to build and ordered a nice building from tabletopworld, a stone bridge.
I hope the impression will get better step by step.
TheHoodedMan:
Tomorrow scheduled is a game against Ogres :cheers.
Parish:
Cool pictures and cool armies !
Thanks for the report !
TheHoodedMan:
Battle against Ogres
My list for the Ogre battle will probably consist of:
Prophet on great Taurus, lvl4 death, charmed shield, potion of speed, preservation, earthing rod
demonsmith, scroll, lvl 1 fire
BSB, shield, Mask, luckstone, ironcurse
3 khans on wolf (1 w spear)
26 IG great weapon, full command, war banner
35 hobgoblin hw/s full command
rocket launcher, magma cannon, iron demon
hellcannon, 5 wolf riders w spears, musician
(blunderbusses would have been great but under the COMBAT comp I couldnt squeeze them in).

Thoughts:
I wanted the purple sun, so I chose death and a flying mount for my general; the taurus is a threat for small ogre units as well. The potion of speed should minimalize the risk of a "malfunctioned" purple sun. But I didnt get it anyway, see later.
Other: I tried to get some shooting with multiple wounds. Magma Cannon and Iron demon should serve well, the Hellcannon could support in close combat and as a kind of defensive tank. The rocket launcher can attack the ogre cannon or single out character models which quickly will have no more “Look out, Sir!” (most ogre units are only 4-6 normal models).
Because of the COMP of our league I therefore couldn`t use a destroyer or blunderbusses or a second Magma.
Then I got as much redirectors as possible: 3 Khans on Wolf and 1 unit wolf riders.
My opponent was Alexej, who plays since 1 1/2 years and builds up Beastmen and O&G, but plays the league games with an very well painted Ogre Army of a friend. Alexej is a very nice guy and we traded some models before we began to play (I got old metal minotaurs as unit fillers for my hobgoblins).
Ogre list:
1 ogre cannon
2 mournfangs
5 maneater, stubborn, scout
5 maneater, advance move, poison
8 ironguts, m, s
5 ironguts, m
1 sabre tooth
1 master butcher, lvl 4 maw, armor of fortune, ironcurse icon
1 butcher lvl 1, beast, scroll, dragonbane gem
1 butcher lvl 1, heaven, dragonhelm
1 bsb, preservation.
all heroes great weapons.
1 Gorger (german “Verschlinger”).
