[Archive] an email reply from forgeworld

Admiral:

The vibe I get when rereading these replies are positive while just a couple of months ago the vibe carried the polar opposite charge, what was "dead between the lines" is now instead "slightly shivering", life my brothers! Now, call me to mad for my hat, the crystal ball is clear and it says "More Chaos Dwarfs will come from Forgeworld".

EDIT: Wuwuwuwuwu

MadHatter
A warcry for that! :cheers

Bitterman:

Its said before, but it strikes me that FW and GW don't cummincate, or at least is seems like they don't .......

Yodrin
They don't, much; but still: even if we assume they know what will happen with Warhammer (and the guys at the top, like Tony, definitely will, even if the mere peons aren't told) they're not going to spill the beans to everyone who emails in.

Much easier to say "we're waiting to see what happens with the End Times!" rather than (for example) "well you see, 9th Edition Warhammer will invalidate everything, it's released next June and contains Elves and Orcs in the boxed set - what do you mean GW haven't announced that yet?", or even "we know what's happening with Warhammer but we're not telling you, so nyer!"

Right up until the next major release is officially announced, all official channels will deny all knowledge of it, even if the person in question does know about it. You might get the occasional store manager willing to let slip what he knows verbally, but nothing traceable such as a formal reply to an email.

tl;dr: at least some people at FW certainly do know what's happening with the End Times and 9th Edition, but they have to pretend not to, because they can't tell everyone until it's officially announced.

Geist:

Something to keep in mind, amidst all this debate and talk.

ForgeWorld and GamesWorkshop are not two separate companies. FW actually falls under the shelter of GW, company wise. Just FW reports a different stock than GW.

In simple terms, the two do talk to each other but its more akin to business meetings and notes of the last minute than “hey bob hows the new sculpt coming over there in resin land(FW)”. Less informal chatter more business memos floating back and forth.

sam585:

I asked forgeworld a question in regards to The End Times Spells about 2 weeks ago:

"Are the Chaos Dwarfs lore of hashut going to get an end time spells or are they no longer being supported? Every army and every magic lore except lore of hashut has an end time spell so is this a sign of things to come?"

Here is the response:

“The new End Times spells were produced by the Games Workshop studio who have not had any hand in producing the Tamurkhan Chaos Dwarfs. We certainly would like to add and End Times spell to the Lore of Hashut but currently our rules team are busy working on other projects. However, we will pass on your request to them.”

Here is an answer to a mail i have send to FW:

Hi There.

Thanks for your email. Although the Tamurkan book will no longer be available after we have sold the remaining copies, we currently have no plans to discontinue the Chaos Dwarf range of miniatures. We appreciate that there are concerns about removal of some kits from the Warhammer Forge range, however this only ever because a specific miniature has not sold as well as we needed it to or so that we can create time for our studio to work on a number of exciting projects that we have in store for the future. Rest assured that this is always made on a model by model basis and what is seen on our website is very much still available.

In regards to a physical or digital reprint, we currently have no plans for one, but that isn’t to say that it isn’t something we might consider in the future.

torn:

Despite the fact forgeworld is part of GW, its important to understand that forgeworld will have to make its own profit, and be self supporting. If anything isnt selling they arent going to pump more money into it.

Which is actually a positive as the LoA models arent being dropped.

Wouldnt it be interesting to send them an email to the opposite, saying something along the linesof tamurkhan was awful and they should get rid of CD’s, and see how well they defend their range.

Malorndk:

Got my reply. Nothing new

gIL^:

i got the same reply.

RiTides:

This is extremely interesting, thanks for talking to FW and updating here guys!

Yodrin:

With all those replies, I am quite positive with my CD eyes on the future!!

Kaleb Daark:

To add to this, I sent FW a message asking about the chaos dwarf’s place in the Chaos Legion list over three weeks adjoined as yet have had no reply.

I do hope that GW recognise our dwarfs as a proper army in the mainstream WHFB sense of the word. Besides they can’t wipe them out as in the dwarf book it alludes to them actually being borne form Grim-wotsisname’s retinue when he walked off into the chaos wastes, and thus the vanilla dwarfs should be falling on one knee to the children of their ancestor’s immediate retinue!

In respect to FW per se, until they’ve milked the 30K cash cow dry there’s going to be no love for fantasy for some time. They are and always have been a part of GW, but the way to look at them is like Nespresso is to Nestle’ if that makes any sense, where they’re a boutique brand in their own tight and operate in their own little bubble.

That said, it wouldn’t hurt to be able to have the option of lining the till of my local GW and having the deliver to store option instead of the pant down postage fees. The latest in-store website blocks going to the FW or black library as they cannot stock them in store so one cannot navigate to them anymore as before,

dromar:

Hello, I play Chaos Dwarf with your beautifull model, and the last week, We discussed about the rules ?oBlazing Body? of th Bale Taurus.

The rule say (with the Q&A of the feb 25th 2013):

?oAny model (friend or ennemy) in contact with one or more Bale taurus or K?Tdaai, except a Chaos Dwarf using it as a mount or another K?Tdaai, Take an automatic strenght 4 hit at the start of the close combat phase. This i a flamming attack

Additionnaly, any non-magical attacks must re-roll successful to wound rolls?

The question is about the second part of the rule (?oAdditionnaly, any non-magical attacks must re-roll successful to wound rolls?). Does this rule works againt the non-magical missiles in the shooting phase (bow, crossbow, cannonball, and other type of non-magical missiles) ? or this rule works only at the close combat phase against the non-magical close combat attacks.

Does the rule ?oBlazing body (-1 to wound)? works in the same way for the Great Taurus ?

I look forward to your reply as soon as possible, and wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Hi

Thank you for your email. The answers to your questions are as flollows :

1. The rule only applies to close combat and note missile fire.

2. The Bale Taurus and The Great Taurus are two different creatures each with their own rules.

Well i don’t know if you played the blazing body only in CC but it’s quite a blow for those who used to understand the rule applying both in CC and distance attacks.

Bloodbeard:

That makes no sense! K’daai fireborn are completely useless now. W2 and T4 - they’ll be taken out by bowmen!

Their respons is weird I think. A shooting attack is an attack. I’m tempted to write them the same question, in a way leading them to another answer.

sam585:

Wow if that is the case K’daii just became way crappier.

Yodrin:

Makes no sense at all. Attack is an attack period

tenebre:

i agree… no way it only applies to CC. if its true as stated regular Kdaai are totally worthless and wont make it to turn 2.

I think he was referring to the burning wounds portion. at least i would hope.

dromar:

Sorry, it do looks like it only work in CC, what a stupid writting of a rule.

Does anybody use this rule like that already?

Twisted Dwarf:

Emails are not official FAQs

Continue playing as normal.

TheHoodedMan:

Til now we rerolled every non-magical to-wound-roll.

Ranged attacks as well. Thats a huge difference.

Someone should ask specifically for this matter again. Is this already done?

BABIS:

this is quite non sense - I will continue to play it in the same way and to apply the updated rule even for the great taurus
