[Archive] And suddenly it hit me... K'daai destroyer

Zuh-Khinie:

How 'bout these miniatures to use as a K’daai destroyer:

http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/KHORNE-BLOOD-SLAUGHTERER-IMPALER.html

Only thing left to do is change the Khorne-glyph on the ‘legs’ to a Hashut one.

hobomcg:

If your gonna buy them, get them from here - http://www.miniatureshobby.com/

Much cheaper

Da Crusha:

cool, I would have said “those are pretty expensive though” but hobomcg found them pretty cheap.

hobomcg
are those illegal recasts? if they are I just like to point out that it kills the miniature market.

ryanamandaanna:

uh… yeah. That site is totally illegal.

hobomcg:

But there’s nothing that anything can be done about it, because its Chinese and therefore everything on there is property of the Chinese government.

gIL^:

Links like that Kill the Hobby. And feeds Communism

Necrotique:

Oh wow… if these guys started selling titans at 70% off FW would be out of business…

I wouldn’t buy from them in any case - Chinese post items have a notorious reputation for going missing.

Necrotique:

Also, SEEMS LEGIT

Nicodemus:

Caveat emptor !!

I’m not going to remove the links in the above posts … at least not this time.

But be warned gang, that store is BAD NEWS Do not purchase from them. Buyer beware, etc.

The store is based in China is a well-known scam.  They sell recasts.  Gosh, do we all really think we were clever enough to have stumbled upon such a great deal?  No, there’s a reason the FW prices (and collectable GW GamesDay things look so affordable!  Do youself a favour and just don’t buy from them.  Find another way to get what you want instead of supporting them.  There’s also no guarantee (if you can believe what you read on dakkadakka) that you will even get your models in some cases. Go search google for reviews of their company, put the name of the business in “quotes” to cut down on the unrelated stuff in your search…

Don’t be stupid just to save a few $, £, ¥, ,, ,, ,, or what ever.  Inform youself as well about Paypal’s coverage, there is a very narrow set of criteria that have to be met (by both parties in some cases) for you to get your money back. eBay is easier to get your money back, other vendors, not so much.

There is something we can do hobomcg, and that's not help drive business to their site. Please read your PM and refrain from distributing such links in future. This is for the protection of the CDO members (from getting ripped off) as much as for the hobby itself!

Bassman:

Good info Nicodemus!

Going back to the “nice” part of the hobby.

I always loved the FW Khorne Blood Slaughterer. I think it would be a great Destroyer. It looks mean, it looks fast and terrible tought! And it’s a gorgeous miniature!

I would get rid of Khorne symbolism and maybe I would search for a new taurine head. I know it’s not easy to touch such a beautiful miniature but swapping the head for a taurine one would transfomr into the Hashut’s perfect machine of destruction.

Not having a range weapon I would choose the Slaughterer not the impaler…

Necrotique:

Oh wow, according to the email reply I got, apparently they’re going to release copies of titans soon.

There goes my $800 reaver :frowning:

This sort of thing makes me feel a bit sick, especially since we’re already charged another half as much as other countries for our minis…

Back to topic, I reckon a Blood Slaughterer with a (maybe resin or cast) taurus head would look brilliant.

:cheers

IzNoGood:

Well this is mine (cos I like crocs), easy to get hold of and cheapish

http://www.amazon.com/McFarlane-Spawn-Series-33-Sebek/dp/B00164S0MO

and this one is even more Hashut-friendly

http://www.amazon.com/Spawn-Mutations-Malebolgia-Action-Figure/dp/B00008KGT9/ref=sr_1_2?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1329647355&sr=1-2

…presumably still made in China, but not rip-offs this time!

Necrotique:

G’day,

Is there anything we can do about this to help shut it down?

Normally I wouldn’t have a problem with cheaper FW models as down south we get charged half as much again, but this is ridiculous.

They’re releasing Titans this month. Warhounds @ $145 and Reavers at $210.

I hope they’re all steaming piles of gak. I’m not happy having paid premium prices for my titans only to have another, pirate, company sell them at a bloody quarter of retail.

Should I just sell my titans on eBay now while they’re still worth something?

This sucks :frowning:

Apparently they're already trying and have been for the last year :/

This sort of thing is what really brings the hobby down :(

Why? You have some of the best models ever released!
Assemble them, paint them and enjoying doing so.

Those rip offs are not even worth of your attention.

:-)

Thanks man, it helps to hear that. I currently have one old armorcast reaver I'm chopping up and sanding to add detail to and one jackal and one wolf warhound variant.
It just bugs me that they're flooding the market with cheap imitations. From all experiences I've heard of, when they DO send you something it's usually pretty flawed.
It might be a bit selfish, but I saved up and worked hard to get my titans and it just cheapens it. These won't even be numbered or have certificates...

Thanks though :) I'll keep my chin up in the knowledge that my FW cast will be better than cheapo rip-offs.

aka_mythos:

I think anyone who thinks they’re buying anything legitimate from China is a fool. That said my brother maybe a fool. I’ve seen castings from this site, that my brother bought. Ironic but they’re the only place where you could get the FW twin-linked autocannon for the left(or right?) side of the basic dreadnought… at least they were for a while.

I think the castings were actually pretty decent; I have seen FW castings that looked worse. These castings tend not have tell tale signs of recasting, like double mold lines; what is apparent is that they use this harder more brittle resin, similar to what Epicast used back in the day.
