[Archive] Big noses and bigger hats. OOP Dawi Zharr!

Fuggit Khan:

I’m always amazed, stunned and jealous of the speed of my fellow CDO members crank out models and complete their armies.

Well done sir! I love the colors and what an interesting back-drop for the army shot…is it a gaming mat? It fits so well for your Nordic tundra themed army and their bases

:hat off

Red Skullz:

Thank you good sir

It is indeed. Frontline gaming “alpine” battle mat. Fantastic product, can’t recommend it enough!

Red Skullz:

WiP Daemonsmith. Dispel caddy, death lore, and essential in my 2k list for gaming

Base model is the hero on the great taurus. Shoes are from Orks, sword I can?Tt remember but I think the chaos warriors sprues, evil bat top from the zombie dragon sprues.

I then used my meagre sculpting skills to make a dispel scroll, an undershirt and some details on the hat. Can you see the arrow on the third pic?

Then it?Ts the base. See something unusual there? I have plans for the unit that will meatshield the Daemonsmith.

Yodrin:

Another cool CD RS!!! I think he would look cool with some sort of cape or cloak think, have you considered it?

Red Skullz:

Thanks  he has a tiny cape there already. Too small?

Yodrin:

Well I am fan of big capes, especially on wizards and characters in general;).

With a big cape (not quite Shadowblade), but big enough to make some symbols or drawings;)

Red Skullz:

I’m more in the Invincibles school in regards to capes  main reason I did it now is that it made the most sense to cover the saddle I cut away.

I am a follower of the "no capes at all" school ;), but the model looks great.:cheers

Red Skullz:

Aye that’s what the Invincibles (pixar superhero movie ) reference was meant to illustrate

Thanks!

BABIS:

very interesting conversion! with that hat it looks like a necromancer

Red Skullz:

Cheers! Well he’s a death mage so

TheHoodedMan:

The bat is very fitting.

Didn’t realize the incredibles thing ;-).

Red Skullz:

Thanks

Yeah don’t worry about that. I’ve got three kids and seen my share of cartoons. The Invincibles is my favorite! Though I’m a superhero geek

Abecedar:

Couldn’t see the arrow now matter how hard I tried.

He is on a 40mm base if I’m not mistaken.

And my kids have grown up now so the wife won’t let me watch cartoons anymore.

Red Skullz:

Yeah I know. Poor light conditions this time of year up north. As in 400 kilometers north of the polar circle.

It came out well now that I’m painting the fella. Seeing all of the great sculpting of guys like Fuggit and Admiral helps a ton.

For shame! There’s so much great stuff mate

Red Skullz:

Finished the Daemonsmith.

There’s the arrow on the last pic. Silly thing to focus on but I liked how well I managed to execute it. Builds up confidence for more greenstuffing.

Then it’s the issue with the deviating base. Well he’s in a bunker and he doesn’t want a hailshot hitting his hat (or neck for that matter).

TheHoodedMan:

Are you Speedy Gonzalez or what?!

Great work man. Your army definitely has style.

Red Skullz:

Cheers mate :hat off

No these where actually among the first I made. Just take a look in my first post. Both the Daemonsmith and the blunderbuss unit where made pre this plog I only needed to do the last details  my favs in the unit is the musician and the standard bearer. If you look closer you can see that I’ve recycled older bitz.

Admiral:

Nice painting on that hero! The arrow looks smooth, so keep on sculpting and get even better.

Have you considered drilling out the blunderbuss barrels (carefully, of course!)?

Red Skullz:

Thanks

I considered sculpting a ring with greenstuff instead. Doesn’t cost much to try it at least and I haven’t basecoated them yet either.
