[Archive] Blazing Body

TheFNG:

Hey guys,

Does the blazing body rule apply to only CC attacks or to all non-magical attacks including shooting? I’d say the latter as it doesn’t state only CC attacks. Thoughts?

Grimbold Blackhammer:

It applies to all non-magical attacks that roll to wound.

TheFNG:

Thanks!

The FAQ says:

?~Any model (friend or foe) in base contact with one or more Bale Taurus or

K?Tdaai, except a Chaos Dwarf using it as a mount or another K?Tdaai, takes an

automatic Strength 4 hit at the start of the Close Combat phase. This is a

Flaming attack.

Additionally, any non-Magical attacks must re-roll successful To Wound rolls.?T

Hmmm, I’ve been running with just CC rerolls. It just got better then!!

TheFNG:

I was making the same mistake turbo.

Wow that i have missed, hmm thanks for learning me something new :D definitely gonna have a K'daai inn my army now :)

Bloodbeard:

Here’s another little rule question. Is it possible to use “look out sir” against blazing body? My friends and I have been playing blazing body with no “look out sir” - but is it right?

Going up against Tomb Kings soon, and I would like to barbeque his heroes with Fireborn.

Grimbold Blackhammer:

Nein.

Fireborn are fun I like my unit of eight. They don't loss much due to burning bright and when they get into cc they can hit everyone in the front rank with burning body even a horde. As well everyone attacks even against an opponent only 5 wide.

The rule states every model in base contact. So that also means that any unit champion a unit has also won't get a lookout sir.

This can be pretty nasty against anything (like elves) that allows for unit champions to take a magic item. Their Always strikes first can't help them and at T3 they are certainly at risk of dying.

Yodrin:

Do the wounds caused by blazing body count against combat res? It dosent say anything about it in the book? (dont have the book here atm)

Vogon:

I’ve always played it as yes the hits occur during the combat phase and as far as I’m concerned they’re counted like impact hits or stomp/thunderstomp attacks.

I have as well, why wouldent it..;)?

Bloodbeard:

Thanks for the answers guys.

I think we’ve been playing it right then. No look out sir and counting towards combat resolution. This makes the K’daii an awesome unit against t3 units and 20mm based guys. And the automatic hit causing the odd wound on heroes and champions.

Gonna have to finish my unit up before fighting the Tomb Kings. Low toughness, crap armour save, no regeneration, flammable heroes and an unstable regiment. They should go up in smoke pretty fast.

Yodrin:

Just hope you (or the fireborn) dont burn your ass (or their own ass) up first, he he;)

Pretty much the only time I've seen people fight is when I put a Flame Cage on a unit, then challenge the opponent forcing a model to move.  Suddenly I've generated 15 extra combat resolution and a lot of people think it's gamey. So yeah...there are oddball situations.

What's a flame cage? Fireborn from more than one side?
