And here’s the list I’m gonna bring against vampires tomorrow. I’m using my magma cannon build as a death shrieker rocket launcher. I’m bringing allmost all my models for this one. Last game my Iron Demon was screamed to death by a terror gheist - so the rocket and prophet will take them out quick this time.
And I simply have to field all the K’daai - so many toughness three bodies to burn and make crumble!
Our infantry really shines against low ws/s/toughness horde armies so it should be a fun match. Watch out for ethereals, especially now with lore of undeath.
So here’s a crazy different list, that I havn’t seen the likes of before. 2400 points in total (could go 2500 if needed). I need help and input to fill out the empty spots. Not a competitive list - but a concept list. I have the bits and it is the Year of the Hobgoblin. Ever since Scribe’s Concept II and recieving Fuggits emissary hobgoblin I’ve been wanting to do this.

- there coould go some fun items on them. Mask of Eee for the once in a while failed terror test. Perhaps some potions for stronger charges. They are going to fly solo. Having a lot of mobility / annoyance on the board comined with the wolfraiders.

- in the front, with a bit of angle, to make a shield around warmachines. Shields are great! 15 points for an entire unit, that’s 3 6’s needed to earn themselves back. No brainer.
= 561 (missing 39 points - perhaps as a small IG bodyguard for BSB, a block of IG what be great. But I have bits for makng enough hobgoblins to cross the 600p minimum)

- Converted from hobgoblin bolt throwers. Idea is to add an extra crew member holding a hellstorm rocket battery rocket. And a crazy daemonsmith having given the hobgoblins rockets alongside their arrows. Need to find some old boltthrowers (perhaps original hobgoblin throwers) or build some myself.

- i simply love the concept. A unit on both flanks. Gonna redirect enemies, hunt warmachines etc. Getting +3 from charge, despoiler rule and banner and not many attacks going back (due to flank or rear charge). Could be units of 5 instead i guess. But the 5 extra strength 4 hits on the charge is pretty good.
- we could include a Hellcannon in rare.

Leaves 880 points for Lords and crossing the minimum core limit. Ideas are very welcome! I was thinking perhaps a prophet on either bale taurus og lammasu. Bale taurus because it’s really cool and the list is inspired by Fuggit Khans Scribe Contest II entry - The Eye in the Sky. The lamassu might take a cannonball to the face, but having shadow magic could really augment the hobgoblins skill. Stricking with their leadership as strength or dimishing the enemy movement/toughness. Keep the enemies away for extra shooting / not getting hit by all enemy units at the same time. Combied with ashstorm it can slow an enemy down. Getting lower toughness / having enchanted blades of aiban will let the bows kill.
A unit of Infernal Guard would look really good as well, fits the concept.
Ideas are very welcome. This list will be my (crazy) goal for The Year of the Hobgoblin! I happen to have all the bits in hand (besides boltthrowers) to make the above happen.
Your input is valued - let’s tweak the list without loosing the concept of a hobgoblin legion. Could be two units of hobgoblins with 40 in each etc. As long as hobgoblins are the main thing here.
BSB: Like you play it, Banner of Slavery would be an option, too (no Fear, Terror, Panic from shooting)
Daemonsmith: You mean Lore of Metal :-).
Personally I wouldn`t take more than 2 warmachines with 1 Daemonsmith. With that setup I would probably go for an Iron Daemon to block strong regiments.
Wolf riders: From gut feeling I would change to 5 or 15; 5 as redirectors, still enough for most warmachines, 15 to have a little reserves and more combat resolution safe.
Altogether I have some doubts who does the damage. For that a bale taurus would be great.
I love the concept, I played similar armies at times back in 4th edition (lots of fun!), no reason why not to play it in 8th as well :hat off
I would recommend the Bale Taurus over the Lammasu, and you might want to consider Khans on foot in your Hobgoblin blocks. Give your Khan’s Gold Sigil Sword, Mask of Eee, Sword of Swiftslaying and/or Sword of Battle…great items for bargain prices, and will help anchor your blocks with a bit of offensive punch back at the other guy.
And as TheHoodedMan pointed out, the Banner of Slavery! Don’t leave home without it :cheers
I went for Moria Goblins and Hunter Orcs in the end for my Hobgob choices, one reason, you can buy a shitload of them for cheap. I ended up with about 200, so I plan to try out some Hobgob heavy lists some day when I have my shit together.
PMed you because of the single point values you listed. <br>How much hobgobs are in the core units?<br><br>Gamewise its sure fun to play because you swarm your opponet which is unusual for cds.
Damage output is limited to the shriekers and the bale and perhaps to the IG. In a fluff game or 2 vs. 2 this could be a very fine list.
