Agreed with fuggit
Focus fire the squigs as long as they are threatening ir close to his other units.
With what you have got you can’t do much else… A good magmacanon can win you the game, while a bad one should lose you one

torn:
The very low LD and very low killing power of night goblins means you shouldn’t worry about anything.
I would actually split your firepower, put the magic on the squigz, but send the templates over the big spear unit that will have the characters in. Kill the characters and the whole army will run.
Squigs are nasty in combat, but the armour of IG, especially with hand weapon and shield should keep them alive, and killing squigs in return isn’t too hard.
The hardest thing with night goblins is the cheap characters. A goblin lord with an ogre blade or similar will hurt you, and he can still fit a lvl 1 shaman to dispell you. Last game I lost my daemonsmith in combat against the goblin lord and spear unit because he was solo to give the rocket re rolls. That’s just something to think about.
I would say ignore his archers they are only a threat if they can flank you or roll very lucky. You have got to give night goblin players some credit they are in a constant uphill battle.
torn:
I have just re read the night goblin list you will be facing. No shaman means no dispell attempts which means the ruby ring can put this in the bag for you. If you can get lucky and get a panic fest going on you have won.

Remember that Magmacannons force a panic test even if they kill a single model, I would try and get the main block panicking by shooting it, even though theres a lord and BSB it's still rather low LD, I've failed LD9 rerolls more times than I can count.

Bloodbeard:
Thanks for all the great advice guys, much appreciated. The ruby ring of ruin sadly isn’t a part of my 500 point list.
The battle went really well, and I’ll write up a battle report later. But ended up doing something like this:
Turn 1: magma cannon hit main goblin unit, hopping to slay general, cause panic and hope for a chain panic to the archers. K
Fireball the squigs.
Turn 2: magma cannon the squiqs, killing a lot.
fireball the squigs - failed.
Turn 3: magma cannon the main unit
Fireball the reaming squigs.
The battle was a downright massacre. My infernalguard did nothing though.
The magma cannon is obviously underpriced by at least 25 points, especially having a daemonsmith near it. The automatic panic test is insane.
Malorndk:
The magma canon isn’t necessarily underprized, but it’s certainly extremely good against a low leadership, small based, slow infantry army
Bu then again, many people calls it the best warmachine in the game, so 160 a piece wouldn’t be out of question.

1750 - the all painted, no prophet list
List made for this battle: Slave raid on Galandul
We went with 1750 points because my opponent had that many points in pure core and he wanted to try out that list. Well at 1750 a prophet is way to expensive. Yet it’s almost impossible to fit three heroes. … Yet I managed to do it. Turns out I didn’t use a single of the items given, so the Chalice would have been better.
Heroes (435pts)
Daemonsmith Sorcerer (140pts)
Charmed Shield (5pts), Level 2 (35pts), Lore of Fire, Pistol (5pts)
Daemonsmith Sorcerer (140pts)

Chaos Dwarf Infernal Guard (325pts)
23x Chaos Dwarf Infernal Guard (276pts), Musician (10pts)
* Deathmask (14pts)

6x K’daai Fireborn (330pts), K’daai Manburner (10pts)
Magma Cannon (145pts)
Rare (210pts)
Hellcannon (210pts)
The list has basically been build of every single painted and finished model I have made.
sam585:
I like that 1750 point list a lot and feel like copying it as a base for my 2500 point lists xD.
Good work on the build!

Feel free to be inspirid. Check out my battle reports to see how they play out.

Fighting the evil cousins
Going up against dwarf in Schädel Island today - in about 8 hours. Opponnent has been slow to upload armylist. But now it’s online. I would love your advice again. The battle is 1000 points - pitched battle.
Chaos Dwarfs
Heroes
Daemonsmith, lvl 2, lore of metal, enchanted shield, iron curse icon, luckstone
Core
20 infernal guard, hw/s, full command, gleaming pennant, devastating charge (through xp).
10 infernal guard, hw/s
Special
Magma Cannon
Iron Demon, hellbound
Dwarfs
Heros
Runesmith, shield, rune of stone (so in all 2+ save), rune of spellbreaking (dispel scroll) and fiery ring of thori (breath weapon, flaming attacks)
Core
25 warriors, shields, full command - runesmith goes here for armor piercing skill.
Special
Gyrocopter
18 hammerers, champion, standard
Cannon
Rare
Organ Gun, rune of accuracy (re-roll scatter dice).
Thoughts on tactics?
I’m thinking of focusing ID shot on bringing down the gyrecopter - as we all know what that’ll do otherwise.
The ID needs to hit a unit and fast! To not get shot down by a cannon. Will try to hit hammerer as they still only wound it on 6+, and their strentgh will hurt my IG bad.
Magma cannon will blast away a the unit that my large IG will face.
Lore of metal . if everything fails I’ll go with a signature spell. Trying to hit the gyro in turn one if a thread to IG, then hit the warrior unit because of their (4+) save.
Question: I can’t snipe the hero in a unit lore of metal signature right? Would be an easy kill.
I went with a lvl2, lore of metal, knowing I will face 3 juggernaughts of Khorne and fearing meeting a steam tank. Turn out no steamtank, but Empire still brings a regiment of knights with their general.
Your thoughts on the upcomming battle is much apriciated. Anything I miss? Should try to do?

Fighting the evil cousinsYour infernals with D.charge can deal with the hammerers in a straight fight. And will likely deal with his reg dwarfs.

Malorndk:
You could risk it, and place the ID right in front of the cannon, boil forward on turn one and shoot it in turn 2. This can very easily end very bad tho
But it’s manly! xD
Bloodbeard:
Sunday we’ll play the yearly christmas Triumph and Treachery. I’ll be fighting Vampire Counts, Dwarfs and High Elves. Here’s the list I plan on bringing. 1000 points: Experience says it works best. Least waiting around.
Heroes
Daemonsmith: Lvl 2, fire, general, pistol, enchanted shield, dispel scroll
165 Will stay near Hellcannon for “look out sir” and to make it hit. Pistol for getting a shot at eagles and the like.
Castellan, bsb, shield, warrior bane, talisman of preservation
182 Will go with IG unit, warriorbane for magical attacks against ethereal units.
Core
20 Infernal Guard, full command, pistol, razor standard.
317 Fielded 7*3. Pistol to use points and get the odd shot off.
20 Hobgoblins, standard, musician, bows, shields
122 I just want to have some more dolls on the table. Will get some shots off and support IG in close combat. Standard and musician for tiebreaking. Only unpainted unit in entire game! (boo!)
Rare
Hellcannon
210 Favourite unit!
Total: 998
Thoughts, comments, critique welcome.
Options: more IG, fireglaives, blunderbuss, magma cannon, iron demon, prophet/daemonsmith, castellans, 1 wolf khan
TheHoodedMan:
The hellcannon is a beast at 1000 pts.
You could give up the cannon and the gobos and substitute them for a khan, a magma and a death shrieker.
The khan gives you one turn more to shoot if you are lucky and you can influence movement on the table a little bit. Also you can fire the magma at a regiment and still have something for nasty characters, monsters or chariots.
Not so easy to find something working at this low points ;-).
Morgr Ashbeard:
Love reading these threads…i dont have any advice to add but thanks for shring your journey its great for someone just putting a CD army together!
Bloodbeard:
The hellcannon is a beast at 1000 pts.Good input. Not that good for Triumph and Treachery. You earn victory points during the game. And that's for destroying enemy units or getting objectives / missions done. So having to much pure shooting will not earn itself home. As other players will just swoop in and take out the remains.

One of my very best friends has 5 different, fully painted 40k armies - none of the closest friends really play 40k. We all come together regularly to play fantasy. After two years of convincing he has finally bought himself some used WoC. Sunday I’m gonna play him (his second game in 8th edition).
I made my list from stuff I like. The game is 2400 points. I want to use my fireborn models, but had a hard time finding the points. As 600 points core begs for a large blunderbuss unit and some hobgoblins. But I only play with painted models if I can - so I’m bringing a very large BB unit.
2400 points vs new WoC player
Prophet, lvl 4, lore of hashut, carpet of arabia, talisman of pres, enchanted shield, pistol
Daemonsmith, lvl 2, lore of metal, chalice,
Castellan, bsb, mask of furnace, gw, luck stone,
29 bLunderbuss, full command, razor banner, pistol = 601
6 Fireborn
Magma Cannon 145
Iron Demon, hellbound, 310
Hellcannon 210
Plan is to have a Hell cannon on one flank and Iron demon on the other. Blow up as much of his force as I can. The Fireborn are gonna roll for luck and rush forward - hope for the best. Flying prophet will march block (hopefully break up his advance by some of them failing LD-test) and try to zap his dragon.
The Enemy
Chaos Lord: Mark Of Nurgle, Chaos Dragon, Shield 550 Mutations: Flaming Breath, Soul Feeder 40 Magic Items: Sword of Strife (+2A), Talisman of Preservation 95 Dragon Bane gem, Luck Stone
Chaos Sorcerer lord: Mark of Nurgle, Wiz lvl4 280 Mutations: Chaos Familiar, Scaled skin 45 Magic items: Dispel scroll, earthing rod, talisman of endurance 80
Exaltet Hero: Mark of Nurgle, BsB 145 Magic Items: Ogre blade (+2S), Enchanted shield 50 Ironcursed Icon
Chaos Warriors (17): Mark of Nurgle, Shields, Command group 319
Chaos Warriors (14): Mark of Nurgle, Shields, Command group 268
Chaos Knights (10): Mark Of Nurgle, Enscrolled weapons, command group 525 Razor standard
Any ideas or helpfull thoughts?
TheHoodedMan:
Hi, his list is mainly a fun list
but can still do some damage.
Dispell scroll and earthing rod is not legal (both arcane).
Lore of metal is good against nearly everything he has, especially the dragon without fire-wardsave, and you have the hellcannon and Curse of Hashut, too. If you hit some with your shots and then roll up one infantry unit with the id that should be no difficult game, even without the fireborn ;-).
played against woc yesterday and lost badly, see my army blog. Sadly I´ve no pics.

Hi, his list is mainly a fun list :-) but can still do some damage. He actually also had a mistake on the Lord carrying two amulets. Been fixed now. We have both made some funny, not to serious lists. This will be a "learn the game" game for him and we both have to take care of our babies while playing.
