A few WIPs

A few WIPs that is only missing quick shade varnish. Then I have a handfull of miniatures left to do. 7 Dungeon Saga models and my kit is complete. And I have a few primed animals ready for Frostgrave as well. Will work to get that finished and then I’ll paint up my remaining Devils Run miniatures.

Piles of Bones

Apothecary and Templar for Frostgrave

Lighting is completely off in these pictures. It’s night time and I only had a desk lamp. But wanted to update the blog.

Now back to do an hours more painting an then to bed!

Abecedar:

Looking great, I really do love your piles of bones. I’ve gotten absolutely no painting done since the artisans started and I’m getting twitchy.

TheHoodedMan:

Wow, you are making great progress. That dungeon saga minis look pretty finished for me, good job!

Jackswift:

Nicely done.  I have that monk model.  Nice to see a painted version!

Fuggit Khan:

Cool stuff :hat off

Those ghost miniatures are super slick (does one have a fanatic ball and chain?).

And the piles of bones are simple and effective…which immediately reminds me of the skeletons rising from a pile bones in Dark Souls.

Good work as always from you :cheers

Bloodbeard:

Thanks for the compliments gentlemen. I try to paint everyday, get the pile of miniatures smaller. And Intry to finished games, squafs etc. Cross them off the list. Paint stuff not needing conversion work, to save time.

@Jackswift: I love Reaper Bones. He cost only a few bucks. Have fillede out multible frostgrave classes with those miniatures.

@Fuggit Khan. The ghost miniatures are awesome little sculpts. Both dragging around a ball and chain. … just as much a cliche as skeletons waking up with scythes. Why did they take farming equipment into the dungeon?

Jackswift:

Bloodbeard
I wholeheartedly concur! For the cost, I love them for conversions as well, I think all three of my most recent Golden Hat and Artisans entries, had Reaper bones model bits as a part of the builds.

Bloodbeard:

Dippind day

Today was dipping day. Had a lot of miniatures that I’ve been getting ready for dip - and I’ve had suh a hard time getting them done. So it’s nice it’s over an that I can concentrate on painting up something else.

Some Frostgrave scatter and Dungen Saga barrels

This is for some light cover in Frostgrave and the scenario “loot the cart”. 4 of these are made with the Dungeon Saga barrels. Beefed them up a bit to look better. They still fit neatly inside a 1’’ square (like the DS board grid).

These are made with Renadra platic barrelse large and small, cheap wooden barrels from AliExpress (china ebay) and some resin bits cast by a friend.

I had a dublicate model he needed. I got an even bigger model and some resin bits and bobs in return. Nice trade.

I’ll have to make a Market Tile (1’x1’) for Frostgrave, with lots of Admirals cool clutter pieces on it.

Malorndk:

Can you link me those undead dwarfs? They are beautiful!

Can you link me those undead dwarfs? They are beautiful!

Malorndk
You get 1 in this set: http://www.manticgames.com/mantic-shop/dungeon-saga/miniatures/product/evil-dead-miniatures-set.html

There's two sets in the core box and then there's the old undead dwarg king. But he's only in the box.

... So I guess you have to check ebay to find them.

Malorndk:

Thanks! Mantic is growing on me. Their Ogre army is actually really cool as well

Malorndk
Agree, Ive always thought that Mantic looks "ugly-cool" in their style. Most of their stuff that is, some like the elf dragon riders, not so much "cool". :P

Bloodbeard:

Dungeon Saga

And this was the last miniatures for Dungeon Saga. Besides from a few pieces of furniture it’s now completely coloured. That’s a nice achievement, feels good.

It’s also part of the criteria I set up before buying any expansions:

- Completely Painted

- Must have played all the missions in the one I have.

So after some gaming I can reward myself the Return of Valandor.

The Heroes of Dolgorath.

No conversion work, but I added a bow string to the elfs weapon. I always do that. These will double up in frostgrave a Ranger, Infantryman, Barbarian and Apprentice.

Armoured Zombies, Dwarf Revenants and the Boss undead Dwarf King Grond. Changed on Dwarf pose with hot water.

Ghosts

And my finished “Pile of Bones”, that will also be terrain in Frostgrave. I’ve never given miniatures as heavy a varnish as these, I figure they’ll get banged up pretty good.

Frostgrave

Also finished a lot of pure Frostgrave miniatures.

A Rackham Miniatures Templar (gotten from a chaos dwarf trade). The rest is Reaper Bones. A packmule, a bard (she had a flat guitar, so I made it a lute with greenstudd) and an apothecary. There’s also a badger (warhound or familiar) and a Blood Raven.

And some very old Games Workshop miniatures. I don’t know if these are undead or Chaos - but I think they are very old Chaos Miniatures. They are perfect for a set of Cultist Necromancer and his apprentice.

TheHoodedMan:

A nice compilation of minis.

My favorite are clearly the 4 heroes at the top. Really nice models and good paint job!

:hat off

Admiral:

Good collection of various miniatures, and neat impression they give off painted as well. Keep it up! And what a pack mule miniature! I realize I could’ve loaded the Goblin porter slaves with some more. Maybe next time…

The sorcerers are Chaos miniatures, from the time when GW was more adventuruous with Chaos armour and Chaos Warrior designs in general.

Bloodbeard:

Thank you gentlemen. It feels really rewarding to finish up such a big bunch of miniatures are the same time. Really big fan of that Quick Shade.

Admiral
They really are super cool models. I’m super glad I managed to get them as a freebie part of some trade once.

Scatter Terrain and Dungeon Furniture

Looking to finish up Dungeon Saga completely I’m working on finishing the doors and furniture. Painting my old Heroquest terrain at the same time, as my barrel scatter terrain, 12 treasure tokens and some other random bits (like the dead guy on the throne from Loka).

Added a book (from a GW Dwarf standard) to the bookstand from Dungeon Saga.

Will be nice to use in Dungeon Crawlers and Frostgrave (especially the underground scenarios) as well.

Here’s some WIPs.

Bloodbeard:

I love Dipping Day. When I’ve finished up a bunch of stuff and then dip it all in armypainter quickshade.

Then I know I’m just 24hrs from adding a huge chunk of stuff to the finished pile.

Malorndk:

I’m envious right now. looks awesome

Bloodbeard:

Malorndk
It's about to get worse then.

Dungeon clutter, treasure, furniture
Yesterday was Dipping Day, today I could matt varnish all the stuff and to the finishing touches.

Some treasures still need one thing: gold glitter. I have some on the way in the mail. I think it'll look good.

All these pieces will be used in games of Frostgrave, but also Heroquest and Dungeon Saga.

Hero Quest
I've dreamed up painting up my heroquest for years. Now the furniture and the undead miniatures are done. Looking forward to being complete with it.

Dungeon Saga
I really like the dungeon saga terrain. It's plastic like Reaper Bones miniatures. The detail is fine compared to the very low price. And it won't break like that blasted brittle resin. ... I don't like resin.

Well this is also the last of the core box. It's done. A completely painted boardgame. TIme to finish up everything for Devil's Run.

The chest have been beefed up, still fit inside a 1'' square.

These chests need glitter. The lectern came without a book, so I added one myself (found out it was missing from the box recently, should have been there). Put it on a base as well. Same with the chest, cobble stone from greenstuff.

Added small details to the tables (mug and barrel). Will add water effect into the well later, when I'm doing some canals for Frostgrave anyways.

Frostgrave
These things are not from the above games (except the weapon rack, forgot it in the hero quest photos). The skeleton king is from Loka (fantasy chess by Mantic).

This Thief is the Heroquest Elf. Painted him 10+ years ago, found him in a box. No touch ups needed, just gave him a new base and some quick shade. I have another elf I'll paint up as the Heroquest box art.

This was some very nice stuff to get done. I'll have plenty of terrain for all my future dungeon crawls.

Slavemaster Hod:

Really amazing. Must be overwhelming having that much new stuff.
