TheHoodedMan:

They look very neat. Congratulations!

Fuggit Khan:

Very nice models, I agree with you that they look better than space marines.

They’ve got more natural poses and realistic proportions…very cool :hat off

And some nice influences from Alien, Outland and Dougram :cheers

Admiral:

Nice updates. Neat Devil’s Run stuff, not least the game picture. The Enforcers’ bases work very well with your terrain there. :cheers

Bloodbeard:

Thanks for the comments gentlemen. I really like Mantics sci-fi stuff there’s an excellent feel to it. Like it much more than the High Fantasy 40k look.

Forge Father striketeam

Finished my Forge Father strikteam - FF are squats. I’ve added a metal Huscarl (the two pistol bearded guy) and three mercenaries: Bjorn Stjarnfall, Freya and The Helfather.

Haven’t done any conversion to these guys. Drilled out the gun barrels and added some battledamage to the armors. Bullet holes and scratch marks.

I’ve done a lot of weathering with soot and rust, I’ve also added some blood gore to half the weapons (and underneath a raised boot).

This is the second team I’ve done with the quickshade army painter method and I really like it. Pictures don’t do the miniatures justice. I’ve saved a lot of time on skippind drybrushing, highlights and washing.

Can’t remember the last time I finished 28 miniatures in under a month.

Next up

I think I’ll try to paint up my Frostgrave warband before 13th February. Also want to have my Devils Run all painted and finished at that date.

Fuggit Khan:

Cool stuff…and I especially like the tracked vehicle (or whatever it is), I’d like to kit-bash it to some sort of Dawi Zharr mining drill.

Can’t remember the last time I finished 28 miniatures in under a month.

Bloodbeard
:o Impressive output!

…I don’t think I can even manage 28 miniatures in a year :frowning:

Bloodbeard:

A car for Devils Run

Today the two oldest kids wanted to make some frankencars out of their hotwheels / diecast cars. We pulled out the bits boxes and made some stuff together.

I made this 20mm scale car for Devil’s Run: Route 666 today. Great game, I’ve been playing it a lot recently. Simple mechanics, quick and brutal games. I’ve got a lot of official models coming: Base game with stretch goals and KS exclussives, Skinners faction and the War Rig.

The car I made today if for my own made up faction Freewäy Märaüders.

Drilled out the rivets, to take out the buttom part. Inserted a driver and passenger from Ramshackle Games. Hard to glue on diecast metal, so all bits a pinned through holes in the car. The front spike is a skeleton spear, the spikes on the roof are GW Chaos Marauder clubs. The armor plates on the sides are from some black plastic strip - was holding a toy in a box with some wire. Works good as make shift armor plating from scrap metal. The metal net on the back is from a hardware store.

Scratched the whole car with a nailfile before basecoating it, to make the paint stick better. Pictures were taken before adding Army Painter Quick Shade. The car looks even better now.

“What a day! What a lovely day!”

Bloodbeard:

Build a Trukk as well this weekend. Where a Car is 1x2 squares a Trukk is 2x3 squares. A large one.

Mine is build from two diecast jeeps cut apart and put together again. The exhaust chimney is made from a lollipop stick, the armorplates and gun nest are made from plastic. Plastic found in boxes of chocolate sheets (for putting on you bread at breakfast).

Some GW Marauder spikes (some clubs), horns from Chaos Helmets and hobby cahin added as well. The dozer blade, crew and main gun is from Ramshackle Games.

Admiral:

Haha, ingenious! That scratchbuilding looks fun as hell, got to try out that game and carmania sometime. Very well done, Bloodbeard. :hat off

Admiral
Thanks Admiral. It was fun to chop shop some toy cars!

Finished Trukk
Trukks in Devils Run are behemoths - giant vehicles build from multiple different cars.

I've finished mine now. Very pleased with the massive monster. I've ordered som clear plexiglass from China to cut into bases for the cars.

A trukk takes up 6 squares (2x3) and a car only 2 (1x2). The massive War Rig Model I have coming is an amazing (2x8) squares! That's the length of an entire board.

Fuggit Khan:

That truck is awesome…Immortan Joe would love it :cheers

So many great little details…the chains, the horns, the exhaust stains, all so cool!

You should give some of the drivers shiny chrome mouths

Scar:

Cool stuff!

This message was automatically appended because it was too short.

Admiral:

So shiny, so chrome. What a lovely pair of vehicles. Great stuff, not least the chains. Good attention to detail. :cheers

Abecedar:

Very nice kit-bashing. Love it.

Bloodbeard:

Thanks for your praise and compliments gentlemen. I love the size of those little cars!

Bases!

Deadzone Infestation starts shipping next week. By my count I have 85 miniatures coming from that, so it’s time to make some bases.

50:50 mix of milliput and playdough.

I scratch the bases first, to make the putty stick better. I use the Green Stuff World factory floor pin roll.

1,5 hours of work. 1/3 pack of milliput used. 45 bases made.

The small pipes are made from lollipop sticks. Chains are from second hand jewelry. Barrel/cannisters are made from super lids. Razorwire is made from cheap chinese wiresaw.

Admiral:

Great bases, Bloodbeard! I think you’ve got your hands on exactly the same kind of clock cogwheels as I found. Pin rolls? Very appropriate for a CD collector, considering roll seals.

You’re doing the surroundings, the scenery, the terrain, the cityscape justice with these bases. Keep it up, and you’ll have a most lively game setting with both minis and terrain to speak for it. :hat off

TheHoodedMan:

Wow, look great so far!

Are the details crisp enough? Looking forward to see them painted.:cheers

The details are looking quite nice when painted. Could make the even sharper though:

1. run the lines over with a flat sculpting tool before the putty hardens.

2. even the putty better before using the textured roll pin (I have a flat one for that)

3. press the pin roll harder into the putty.

But I wanted to get things done. After painting, if some areas look crap (I see some in the pictures), these are the places I cover up in rust and weathering.

Secondly the "drunk" look of the bases fit quite well into my terrain. As much of it is made with sprue and a bit off as well.

Fuggit Khan:

The small pipes are made from lollipop sticks.

Bloodbeard
Stealing candy from your kids? ;P
Clever usage of odds and ends as always...those bases are ace!
:cheers

dncswlf:

Excellent stuff in this blog! What game are the cars for? The crane and other terrain pieces look great! Inspiring work!

dncswlf:

Ah! Never mind! I found it: devil’s run! And wowza! Squats! Those forge father models are great!
