So here is my entry for the Golden Hat. It started off as just a musician for my expanded CD unit, so even though I didnt win anything, I am quite happy with him.
Here he is as a WIP:
And here is the green “base” for the unit. I am sculpting some others with different hats and other details to make a little more variety in the unit.
I have only 8 to start, but plan on a unit of 30, which is why I want a little variety.
dncswlf:
Awesome job, loved the concept of the back whistle! Weird that many people went in a similar direction! Nice looking unit though… now paint em up!

Bringing in a little Threadcromancy here. My life has been way too busy with finishing my basement then having another kid. I am finally getting back into the swing of things. The blog is appropriately named. :~
With the new book, I have found that I am missing some great stuff, so off to work I go after a couple trades, some casting, and some bitz ordering.
First is my hobgob archer. I decided to go with the ungor bow arms for these guys. I just file off the fur and am ready to go.
Next is my first K’Daai. I am still in the GS sculpting phase for flames I can cast up. Flames are hard enough, doing it on 6 separate minis, no thanks. Make a flame piece, cast it up, and do minor changes for variety. The minotaur heads work nicely.
silentbob27:
Oh, forgot. I am also working on some mongol style hobgob heads. Running a bit behind on those though
Taurian:
Wow, some nice stuff here. As soon as I saw that musician, I thought that was a rocket on his back…which looked sort of cool if it had been a rocket.
I’ll also say that your version of the bighats is more acceptable to me than GW’s version. Looking at him, I don’t mind him that much at all–the hat doesn’t look that bad and the dwarf underneath it looks pretty good too. He’s got a kind of a bone to pick with someone, as he has that nasty glint in his eye.
The hobgoblin I’d love to see when he’s finished. I don’t think the picture quite does the mini justice, but from what I can tell, he seems like he has the look I’d like mine to have–leaner and meaner. I don’t know enough about CDs yet to know how hobgoblins should look, but in my mind, since they were still slaves–but with privileges–they were leaner than the GW minis and had that wiry strength to them.
The K’Daii is looking pretty good already. I’d like to see how he looks when he gets those flames on him and a lick of paint.
Oh, forgot. I am also working on some mongol style hobgob heads. Running a bit behind on those though

I would love to be able to cast up stuff it seems infinitely useful. It is indeed. Been doing it for years now and am getting decent at it. Now I just need a vacuum chamber...

Bolg:
Oeh, this all very interesting stuff! there is no upper limit of work in progress pictures you could upload, just so you know (:
vulcanologist:
How did I miss this blog?! Fantastic stuff! Now to trawl back through your older posts!
silentbob27:
I seem to be working very slowly lately. Sick me. Sick children. Work. Sigh.
Here are the flames I sculpted up and cast. They came out nice, and i am able to make it shorter if need be.
And on the test K’daai:

Overhead:

Now to decide on the base size for them. Also need to finish up my Destroyer. About 1/2 done with it.
gIL^:
Very nice Kdaii!
This message was automatically appended because it was too short.

Destroyer WIP teaser. Fire-possessed-bull-robot enough?

tjub:
Looks like a really cool concept!
Nicodemus:
WOW!! How is it that I missed the last bunch of updates to your blog, all the way back to the GH entry above from 2010!! Looking totally fantastic. You’re sculpting skills are great, as are your conversions!
The Destroyer teaser is NOT enough… we need to see more? Please tell us there’s more to see than just a head and neck so far :o
Da Crusha:

WOW!! How is it that I missed the last bunch of updates to your blog, all the way back to the GH entry above from 2010!! Looking totally fantastic. You're sculpting skills are great, as are your conversions!I have the legs and feet done, as well as most of the body. That is the one thing i am not super happy about. The legs seem to be too big for the body or the body too small for the legs. I am trying to figure out how to bulk out the body or shrink the legs. It needs to still fit on the base.
