[Archive] Brush Slave #1 - Back to the '80s

clam:

So lets kick this first one off ?" shall we?

Come on guys and gals ?" play along ?" it can only be fun

Theme: ?oBack to the ?~80s?

Deadline: December 5th 2010

Rules/FAQs can be found here: http://www.chaos-dwarfs.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=8430

So? ?oBack to the ?~80s? - you say?

Well, that could mean anything really. A few of you immediately came to think of a miniature from you childhood (or even from before you were born, right ?~Warh?T? ;)), didn?Tt you :lol ?" but there are a billion other approaches to take. Why not enter your horde of 80+ slaves, you Crockett&Tubbs look-a-likes for you Pulp games, your well painted Harlequin 6th Doctor, Yor Russian tank crossing the borders to Afghanistan-diorama or what ever you think ?oBack to the ?~80s? mean.

Oh!, and don?Tt forget that the first French Madagascar expedition was in 1883-85.

Post your entries here - and if you feel for it idea discussion, tips and tricks, wips etc. are welcome as well - just make sure we all know whats you final entry

Obsidian:

I’m in! :cheers

Only entering one model though, it’ll be difficult enough to finish just one let along a whole bunch! ^^

clam:

Great so am I, and Thommy H has already made his - It’s now official ‘a competition’ - lol

warh:

I’m in but could not find any old model’s lying around.

I dont only think of older models when I think about the 80s, I think about disco to:D

clam:

Thought of doing some ABBA sculpts then :stuck_out_tongue:

warh:

Thought of doing some ABBA sculpts then :P

clam
Why not:P

but I got a better idea:yar (I thinkx.x)

GRNDL:

Can't hardly be called a competition - just a fun idea to challenge you and your skills - to actually make you paint something :D

clam
Ahem... What happened to the "not being a competition" thing? Hmmmm?

clam:

What I meant was it’s now an official challenge as we now have more than one participant - of course.

I still don’t think this can be called a competition - as it’s not meant to be such. For those aspects we have the GH and AC already.

Sorry for the mix of words.

dncswlf:

80’s huh… I think I have some stuff lying around that deserves paint… I’m in!

klemanius:

Oh I have something GOOD!!!

Mwahhhhhhh!

G.2:

Deadline: December 5th 2010

clam
Do you really mean December or should that be November? I thought these were supposed to be "quick" painting challenges?

You may also want to set a time on that closing date. As my Dec 5th happens about 10 hours before  most people's Dec 5th. - Just a thought.

And, I too have something to paint....that fits in with this theme. :)

clam:

Awesome - the more the merrier

And I do mean December  We’ll start having the challenge running approx 6 weeks (for a start). If participants find that period to long we’ll shorten it a bit next time - or maybe run a second challenge 3 weeks after the first one and still give you 6 weeks to do your entry - or something. We’ll figure that out - first I just want to see this started.

Think we need at least a 4 week notice. Not everybody stops by every day - and you also need time to think about how to interpret the theme - and then actually paint it. Some of us are really slow at painting (no names, of course)

And for closing date? … well, ‘we’ aren’t that strict, but you should post your entry when the December 5th ends in your part of the world at the latest - but I’m not going to check up on you, so if you are painting all night long on the 5th and the clock shows 02.30 am (on the 6th) when you are done - well, it’s all fine by me. Again, this is not a award winning show - so we don’t need strict rules. It’s more impotent to me that you finish your entry then you get the right time-stamp - but I’ll close the challenge on the 6th of December - when setting up the poll, of course.

but I got a better idea:yar (I thinkx.x)
My idea failed:| It was from the late 70s not 80s:~

Well, lets go with pop now:idea

saterday night CD :stuck_out_tongue:

Blue in VT:

:hat off

Yea! I have just the CD for this…thanks to Canix!

And…unlike the GH model…I should be able to finish this one in time!

Cheers,

Blue

dncswlf:

Yeah! started my piece tonight! Really excited to get some paint on it… as it’s been in a box since 1987… not even glued together!! older minis need lovin too! ha! I have the day off tomorrow, so I actually should be able to finish it up in just a few days!!

G.2:

I just want to clarify a couple of things.

1. Can the mini be any mini (ie modern, 40K, etc), or does it have to be a CD mini?

2. Can I paint a unit/squad if I so desire, as opposed to just ONE mini?

Thanks

clam:

Yes and yes.

You can do whatever you like - so fantasy, modern zombies, near future fractions, Victoria Sci Fi’s, 40K, Navel warfare, Wild West, Historians, WWI + II or whatever else is out there - and in any scale really, of course. So no, it’s not about CDs - these projects probably belongs in you blog, GH or AC - but are also welcome here

And yes - hordes, mobs, squads, war bands, groups, units, fractions, divisions or whatever else you like is more than welcome - as long as they are consistent with the challenges ‘theme’ - (which is up to you to interpret :D).

So anything really

warh:
