Khaas:

Turn Counter is finished!

I’ll probably add a little snow and some grass before I get the final pictures, but I’m happy with it. Only thing I’m not 100% on are the roman numerals along the sides, I may redo that area with some brass numerals. I also will probably glue felt to the bottom of the counter to help protect the wood and give it a little touch of class.

I’ve magnetized Khaas in the center, I’ll be painting a few more of him to act as a Chaos Lord with various mounts. I went slightly different on the paint and ended up happy with the result, let me know what you think.

And finally, another angle…

Yodrin:

Awesome, just awesome!!

speedygogo:

Great job on the army Khaas. Everything looks professional and amazing!

Khaas:

This morning I decided to bash together a Palanquin for Khaas for those times when the Despoiler takes to the battlefield personally. I had some spare Nurglings laying around that I wasn’t planning on using for my Daemon army, so I added these to a 50mm base and built a little structure using some spare balsa from the display board (along with some other bits). I added a little piece of flashing to the top for the magnet on the bottom of Khaas’ base to attach to.

Here’s how the thing looked before I started painting, and below is the whole thing as it currently sits, still very much a WIP.

Let me know what you think.

Khaas:

I took everything outside and got some pictures in natural lighting conditions, with everything finished I thought now was the time. These pictures were taken with my iPhone, but I have another series I’ve taken with the digital camera already that I need to look at. I wanted to get an idea of the difference between the two, and frankly I need some practice with the thing. So, here we go…

Let me know what you think, I’ll be posting the pics with the big camera a bit later. I’ve got to get them off the camera (my computer is weird about USB devices and doesn’t like the Nikon).

Sticklander:

All I can say is I really hope you don’t enter The Golden Hat, because you’ll blow most of us out of the water!

I’m already blown away by the professional nature of your work. I also particularly like your Khaal counter, and his regular base

Khaas:

Thanks Sticklander, Chaos Dwarfs are already being prepped for paint… I should have my 2500 points of CD ready in a couple of weeks.

Khaas
LF to seeing that!!!!

And the warriors army and display, awesomeness!!

Khaas:

Alas, I have returned! A few weeks ago my computer was struck by lightning. Woke up to a nasty storm and a dead computer. I won’t complain too much though, I’ve been grumping about replacing it for the past two years anyway, it’s served me quite well over the years.

Anyhow, my file server is also offline (until the 20th), so I’ve been posting things on my Facebook page and photobucket since then. There’s a lot of stuff on my FB page right now, as I’ve been as busy as ever. I’ve knocked out a Tzeentch themed turn counter for a client and I’ve moved on to a challenge: 20k points of Chaos by Summer!

My local game store is going to be putting on a big game, me against five others: Order VS Chaos and we’ll be doing a big battle report and getting some pictures done up, the plan is to submit it to White Dwarf. I’ll be running 10k Warriors, 4k Daemons, 3k Chaos Dwarfs, and 3k Ogres. All Nurgle themed except the sons of Hashut of course.

I’m nearly halfway finished already, so filling out to the full 20k shouldn’t be a problem. Meanwhile, the pictures I took earlier with the Nikon of the army and it’s display board turned out great. I’ll be getting some individual shots soon. You can see what I’ve been up to on Facebook, by visiting the following link…

https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.468749533244798.1073741832.282895551830198&type=1

Don’t forgot to view the pics in fullsize, these are hi res and the smaller pics just don’t capture a lot of the detail. Now that I have my basic settings down I just have to get the lighting better, then I’m pretty sure I’ll be getting some good shots of future work.

Enjoy, and thanks again for all of the feedback.

Yodrin:

Awesomeness!!! Love everything about it, fantastic army and off the display board is amazing as well!!

Khaas:

I have actually painted some Chaos Dwarfs while I was away, and it’s been a long time since I’ve shared anything in relation to them murderous moppets. Most notably, I’ve finished a ten man unit of IG with Fireglaives. I’ve also put the finishing touches on twenty with Shields, my general, and finished the crew for my Dreadquake Mortars. I’ll include some pictures of the Dreadquakes a bit later, for now enjoy the rank and file Chaos Dwarfs.

10x Infernal Guard with Fireglaives and Standard.

Rear View after Wearthering…

18x Infernal Guard w HW/Shd, FC + Dark Castellean, and Sorcerer Prophet.

Remaining for the Chaos Dwarfs:

Iron Daemon + Crew

Crew for 3 Magma Cannons and 2 Deathshrieker Rocket Launchers.

10 Infernal Guard w Fireglaives and Standard

10 Infernal Guard w HW/Shd

2 Daemonsmiths

With those painted, I’ll have the 3000 points ready to fight alongside the rest of my Horde of Chaos.

Yodrin:

I love it!!! Excellent units!

Khaas:

Time to introduce the latest addition to my Horde, at 10,000 points I need a suitably large general. I decided on the following:

----------------------------

Khaas the Despoiler, Scion of Nurgle (General, MoN)

- Giant Blade

- Enchanted Shield

- Talisman of Endurance

- Ironcurse Icon

- Soul Feeder

- Flaming Breath

- Nurgle’s Rot

Chosen of Nurgle (FC, GW, MoN)

- Licheborne Pennant

Chaos War Mammoth (Howdah)

1452 points, pictures below…

----------------------------

Not nearly ready for paint, but I thought I’d show you guys some of the progress on my “counts as” War Mammoth, the mount for Khaas and his retinue of Chosen.

The idea came from Mark Brass who pulled Bronze in the UK Golden Daemon this year with a similar conversion. You can see pictures of his version in the March 2013 issue of White Dwarf (pp90 & 91).

The main difference is that I’m using Forsaken in place of Marauders as the crew. I’ve nabbed bits from a variety of kits including the Citadel Wood kit. Once finished there will actually be 7 Nurglings on the model/base.

I’ve magnetized the upper deck so that I can literally mount Khaas on top. And when/if the unit disembarks I can just take him off and add him to the ranks. This seemed like the most obvious and simple option. Otherwise I would’ve had to make one version of him on a throne and another on foot. This saves me time and money.

I also decided to use the Stonehorn Head for this, basically it’s a style choice. The Thundertusk head just looks a little silly to me. The Stonehorn on the other hand, I’ve always wanted to paint one. The Howdah is made using balsa wood and craft sticks (Popsicle sticks, basically). If you have any questions, comments, or criticism please don’t hesitate.

Khaas:

The Mount is ready for paint, now I just have to get the base and the lord ready. Next week I’ll get started painting him, if all goes well he should be completely finished by Friday. And hopefully I can find some Corrupters to use as Chosen, no telling how long that will take.

Khaas:

Got a wild hair and decided to paint a portrait of Khaas using the same water color techniques and inks I’ve started using on my minis. It’s being pressed now, and will be framed some time this week. I’m considering giving this as a Christmas gift to a friend of mine.

Kera foehunter:

some great conversion work there Khass i truly enjoy your work

Kera

Yodrin:

LF to seeing that very nicely converted bad boy painted!!!

Khaas:

Getting the week started right, paint is hitting my Chaos Lord’s Mount.

More tomorrow.

Yodrin:

So far, so very good!!!

Khaas:

Progress!
