[Archive] Chaos Dwarf Pre Orders/New Releases

Pyro Stick:

Yeah, I just looked it up - you meant the Longbeard Command, right? Those are indeed metal.

Thommy H
And the slayer command, which is a ridiculous £20.50

Pyro Stick
OUCH! :o

Thommy H:

Of course, comparing Forge World prices to regular GW prices is a bit like comparing horribly overpriced apples to slightly less horribly overpriced apples.

Hashut’s Blessing:

I’m over the moon that these are out, but I am a little disappointed. For a company that specialise in extremeley specialist models, you’d think that they could make the poses a little different as well as 10 different versions of the same shape helmet when they’re selling them for £3.60 a model. The fireglaives seem a little better though with a couple of variations.

Still, I am owed a belated birthday present so may be able to get some from that  Will check the rules and then decide though!

Thommy H
lol good point. Comparing them to the other command groups forge world offer makes them seem not so bad. The only cheaper command is the Empire command at £15. The other command groups are all £22-25 but they come with 5 models.

Thommy H:

I actually don’t tend to mind GW prices, now that I have disposable income and all that, but I think £36 for ten rank and file models may just be morally wrong. As I say, my next Chaos Dwarf unit will be coming from Titan Wargames, and that’s already an expensive purchase in my head. Paying more for comparable figures just seems totally pointless to me. Plus I know metal better than resin anyway.

wallacer:

Well, I bought them.

I’ve been waiting for so long for GW to produce CD figures i’ll be glad just to have them.

Plus i’m looking forward to getting the Tamurkhan book and finding out what that Iron Daemon thing I bought actually does.

Hopefully WF at least make enough sales so that they (and GW HQ) realise there is definitely a market out there for CD figures.

There's already a PDF up with experimental rules.

G.2:

These are very cool. I downloaded the 2 experimental rules which I could find.

aka_mythos:

As i said in another thread, if you think about it, GW command groups for armies like Dwarfs are more expensive than £16. They come with 5 models intead of 3 but they are plastic instead of resin and the detail is no where near as good as these are. So i think its actually a pretty good deal, considering the Hellsmith cost £9.20.

Pyro Stick
Your justification reads like this:
"GW isn't screwing us as hard this time... sometimes they screw us harder... just be grateful when they lube up."

The Hellsmith is one thing, its a limited edition model; its comparable to a special character. Next I don't think GW does enough to make command models worthwhile.

My real issue is making you buy 3 command models at the price of 5 rank and file models... but in building a unit you need a total number of models that are divisible by 4,5, or 6... buying sets you end up with 13, 23, or 33 models. Same problem exists with GW and not just FW, but its accentuated by the higher cost of models.

Baggronor:

Getting that steam engine, its too cool. Might find a way to use it as a Warshrine or sommat.

I’ll probably buy a few of the infantry, mainly for reference. The Lord is the one I’m waiting for, he’s nice.

They are horrifically expensive. There’s no way I can stomach spending £36 on ten figures. If I want a new unit of Chaos Dwarfs, I’ll just go and buy them from Baggronor.
Hopefully, the new shopping cart (and infantry command) will be up during the coming week. Been a bit busy lately :frowning:

Thommy H:

Yeah, hurry up, because now that I’ve seen these, I have that itch to buy them, but since yours are cheaper and functionally identical, I’m just going to get a unit of your guys instead!

Willmark:

Well, I bought them.

wallacer
I wonder if that fact is part of their plan, we've waited so long that they feel that any price is justified.

Bolg:

I dont need 10 of them, especially not at that price range. but I do think they would go well with the 3rd edition stuff.

but I’m going to stick to wait and see before I do anything…

I’m really happy were getting rules and the such. and I do hope the will be very popular as I would for once would like to have a proper list…

Galladorn:

My real issue is how Do I spend an astronomical sum of money on FW CHaos Dwarf models and hide it from my wife?

Pyro Stick:

Just placed my order. Decided to go for just one unit of Infernal Guard for now. £40.32. Oof. Get well soon bank balance. Once the rest of the models are released ill put in an order for some characters and the command and ill most likely sell 3 of the Infernal Guard to make room for the Command (cant stand uneven units) and that will help recoup some of the costs lol. For the postage im expecting these within days of the release…

Grimstonefire:

I think people should email them and say they should sell the command as 5 models (5 with 2 HW& shield, 5 with 2 with gun). Not exactly a great deal more work for them at all and it’s a lot more customer friendly.

Get it posted to the workplace and pay with a postal order?? ;)

Grimstonefire
I emailed them suggesting this. Every other command squad they sell comes in packs of 5 so i pointed that out to them.

Grimstonefire:

The Ironsides Command are only 3 models.  Those would be even easier to do as they wouldn’t need to create 2 options (the Infernal guard command option with HW&shield models and the option with gun models).  It’s just those ironside models with handguns afaik.

Easier for empire players as they only need to lose/gain 1 model to even them in 2 ranks, whereas we’d need to gain 2 or lose 3 for the HW&shield blocks (in 5 model wide ranks).
