[Archive] Chaos Dwarf Spaghetti

Carcearion:

They look amazing! I love the new glowing edged hammers, and your bases are absolutely stunningly done as always! I personally really liked the gray armor myself, but the new red still looks excellent.

I agree with Mal though, I’d love to see some truer to life images of them.

What kit are those polarms from that you used for the banner? They have delightfully chaos dwarf quality to them, the prongs resembling horns and the main blade looking a bit like a beard.

Pappa Midnight:

Now they are absolutely spectacular! :o

I love your colour choices ( obviously… ) and your eye for detail is outstanding. The bases really set them off as well.

Thanks for the nod about painting the red, but you have run with it and absolutely smashed it!

BTW I hope you don’t think I’m out of order but I have “colour balanced” one of your pics. (I’m a bit of a geek when it comes to photos!)

Abecedar:

They look gorgeous, I wish I had the skills in painting and photo taking that you both have.

Horace:

Wow really impressive work. Everything about it is beautiful, the models, the banners, the bases.

:hat off

Forgefire:

Really inspiring unit! Really badass!

Skink:

Nice story pulled off in a most appropriate manner. Corruption is most suitable for the evil stunties. Scribe's Contest next with that penmanship flair? :P

Admiral
Maybe! Will see what the competition´s theme will be. I am not a big fan of Scribe´s contest to be honest... Too much to read ;P
I think the camera has some wonky lighting issue which muddy the colors quite a bit.

Pappa Midnight
You guys are damn right! I took those pics in a sunny day, under a gazebo. The canvas tinged all pics orange apparently x.x . Still, Pappa Midnight´s pic is about 100% similar to the unit´s real life colors, so thank you for that :hat off

Carcearion
Uh... The pennant is made with a couple of Dwarf Warriors´ shields with their symbols filed off. The "arms" instead are done with a brass rod that I pinned in place. Regarding the pointy thingies at the edges, those are the wheel spikes coming from the veeeeeery old metal Goblin wolf chariot... Say 4th edition era? I have absolutely no idea how they ended up in my bits box, but hey, they surely came in handy :D

Now, the last year I managed to get, like, 6 or 7 games in (yay!)... And I think I want to get back into gaming. That said, do you guys know the Chaos Dwarfs´symbol used by the people over at the 9th age? This one?

I utterly love it. It has everything: a twirly beard, a tall hat, tusks, fire, and horns! Reason for which I had the guys at Chessex make these for me:

with Hashut´s burning face in lieu of 6s :hashut:hashut:hashut

Also, I noticed that it is very difficult to move my models aound the battlefield, especially those that are VERY top heavy like my BSB. As a result, I purchased magnets and self-adhesive rubber steel sheets from Greenstuff world. Now my models can fly:

The Immortals received the same treatment. I will eventually magnetize the Hobbos as well. To conclude this update, I finally put together the second Bolt Thrower:

I can´t wait to paint it :)

Carcearion:

Another one??? Wow! We’re all looking forward to it to!

Gorgeous dice to btw

:hat off

TheHoodedMan:

Seems I missed something here…

Gorgeous unit.

This dice will lead you to one win after the other! Very stylish.

I love that bolt thrower. It looks very, very dangerous indeed.

Enjoysrandom:

Great conversion, but I really like the dice too, need to get something similar of my own made one day!

tjub:

Impressive to see that you are keeping the flame alive here! Well done sir!

Abecedar:

That image and the dice are great. Jealous I am .

BABIS:

the dice look awesome!

Skink:

Do you guys remember BABIS´ Hellcannon? Lovely model isn´t it?

Well, I shamelessly copied it, with the exception that I won´t be using it as an artillery piece, but rather as an Iron Daemon (it looks like a tank after all  ):

A blast (literally) from the past:

“But Skink, that cannon it´s too big for Chaos Dwarfs to load ammunition into it. Also, there is no space for crew” I hear you say. And: “you´re right” I would answer. In fact, in the 9th Age ALL Iron Daemons come daemonically possessed. Therefore, this guy´s face will be painted in organic colors, with penetrating, “evil” eyes staring in rage at anything around them. After all, being an immortal guy trapped inside a tank ain´t fun (or is it?)… Here is the face I am talking about:

Impressive to see that you are keeping the flame alive here! Well done sir!

Well, I restarted playing after what, a decade? That really helped me to spark the fires of Hashut anew :hashut … I am aiming at having every army option from the 9th Age´s Infernal Dwarf book covered. After the Bolt Thrower and the Iron Daemon will be done, I am going to have LOTS of things to keep me busy. I purchased 50 Chaos Dwarf Warriors with double handed weapon, 30 Blunderbusses (they will double as Fireglaives too), 30 additional Hobgoblin Arrerz, and I bartered 3 FW Bull Centaurs with Carcearion (thank you again buddy :cheers)… I also own 8 Oglah Khan Wolfboyz and 2 regular Hobgoblin Wolf Riders (to make 2 units of 5). Wll I get on top of this lead (and resin) pile? Challenge accepted :mad:hashut:mad

Admiral:

Ahahah! Solid copying work. Having just recently seen it in BABIS’ thread on a salvage mission I’ll grant that the resemblance is uncanny. Smart plan with the Daemonical possession, too. The overall look suits the 4th ed style of your army perfectly.

Your detail work is spot-on. Rivets, bolts and nuts, chain, lightning bolts (even on the skulls, with cloven tongues!), hooks, spikes, cogs…

Would it look bad if you added bolts and nuts to the topside dags just like you did to the front? Will you put this on a base? I always thought Iron Daemons, chariots, steam tanks etc looked best on bases. Also, would it look ugly if you added tusks to the face? Or even small horns?

Cheers! This kind of praise is reeeeally good coming from a skilled sculptor like you ! The face won´t have horns, and it already has tusks sculpted on! Regarding the detail work, well, I just took iconic CD symbols and added them here and there!

I used this to make the rivets, and it was worth every cent.

The model will have a base indeed! In the 9th age Iron Daemons go on a 100x60 base, but this thing is WAY too big for that. As a result, it will be mounted on a 120x80 base. I don´t think that my opponents will have anything to gripe about anyway...

Enjoysrandom:

Looks really good Skink, its a great model and your details are perfect, very smooth and clean.

Its much better than anything forgeworld sells in my opinion. Great work!

tjub:

Superb conversion work! Good to see some “new” life on CDO as well…

Pappa Midnight:

That is outstanding! Lovely conversion and it just oozes Chaos Dwarf.

PM

BABIS:

wow that’s amazing! your cannon reminds me that I never finished the detailing job on my cannon (rivets, spikes…) but now I see how well it looks with some extra reference to the big hats range, I am particularly impressed with the forked tongues.

Since we own twin cannons, I like to think that the “armorcast” cannon is the last cruelest invention from the dark engineers of the waste lands :hat

Carcearion:

Lovely work! cant wait to see it painted up!

How do you make all the lighting bolts? they look so uniform! do you sculpt all of them by hand or do you have a mold?
