[Archive] Dawi of the Black Fortress & AoS Warband

gIL^:

A simple mission statement, Aim to paint 5,000 pt’s in a year or so.

I present to you…

The Black Fortress is a main backdrop to tamurkhan it’s where the Legion of Azgorh fought Tamurkhan and where they submitted,

The aim of this is to not only explore the Dawi of the black fortress but also their Satrapies, The terrifying Pirates of Flayed rock, Dwarfs whom transport slaves, riches and relics to and from Zharr Naggrund aboard giant steam ships, Hobgoblin Nomads of Ash Waste whom traverse great distances on great mammoths from the far east and perhaps even daemons that inhabit the Sentinals, Epic natural towers that reach the sky and can be witnessed from vast distances.

The army will be broken down into army sized chunks…

2000 Dawi of the Black Fortress
1000 Hobgoblin Nomads of Ash Waste
1000 Pirates of Flayed Rock
1000 Daemons of Hashut of the Sentinels

This is what i have so far.

This is Bargaki on Lammasu, I did this for a golden hat last year. I received 0 votes  This Lammasu model has been with me for 15 years, It was the first chaos dwarf model i got, It was from games day and costed me £5. There are many great Lammasu alternatives and conversions on this website but it was my first ever CD model so it holds great sentimentality and nostalgia.

This is the first 14 Infernal Guard, I want at least 60 infernal guard in the Black fortress army.

The deathshriekers. Im only having 2 warmachines in the first 2000 pt’s, As you can see im going for a classic Dawi look mixed in with the new same with the Lammasu because i love that damn model!

Input very much welcome, Im going for a very dark theme, Many armies ive seen sadly don’t look finished if the scheme is black ( Looking at you 80% of Black templar armies ) Hopefully this army so far isn’t the case.

Abecedar:

Great looking start you’ve made.

“A journey of a thousand miles begins with (if I counted right) 22 steps”

(1 for each model)

Loidrial:

I like the easy but effective shields look

DAGabriel:

Nice start, will be a great and big army when you finish it. The dark look makes it a little hard to appreciate all the details on photo.

Yodrin:

A very good start indeed on the road to 5k. The Lammasu and rider looks awesome:).

TheHoodedMan:

Its more easy to move on with a clear objective.<br>I appreciate your ambitious 5000 pts goal and I think its possible to do that.
Great job so far :cheers

edit: The hard part maybe the 1000 pts. hobgoblins

Admiral:

Very nice colour scheme. This will be an army to savour. Good luck!

TheHoodedMan
one step at a time. Atleast I have plans for the hobgoblins I have no idea about the daemons but as I said one step at a time

I'm.aiming the kdaii destroyer as part of my hobgoblin. I got this mammoth that needs a good home. It's friction Huge.

So about 3 hero's, 80 hobgoblins and a kdaii destroyer so.not so bad.

TheHoodedMan:

ok, that`s still a lot but not so shocking as before ;). Only rank and file hobgoblin infantry would have been about 200 models.

Skink:

Absolutely LOVE the mixture of old and new miniatures. The rockets are fantastic! And by all means, orange + black doesn’t look dull at all! As a matter of fact your models look good and really catch the eye over your gray bases.

Bloodbeard:

Cool start on you army gIL^.

The deathshrieker conversions are superb - that is a perfect way of getting some old school miniatures into an army. Really good. I’ve been pondering about a way to get some rockets into my own force, the originals are too puny.

5000 points painted in a year will be quite a feat. I’m looking forward to following the process.

And then a question: Have you been a members since 2007 and only now started a Chaos Dwarf army?

Fuggit Khan:

Skink
Yep! Love the gray bases...a good choice to go with the lovely dark color scheme. A really nice color combo :hat off

Bloodbeard
Well ive had 3 Chaos dwarf armies before this. An orignal Bighat army which i sold to fund other "Interests" I converted an army but i just binned it and didn't go back.
Then i did a 3rd which was entirely hellcannon crew during "The Dark Times" i still have like 40 hellcannon crew sitting about which will be the base for my pirates.

So I made a blog hopefully it will inspire me to go to the end. I have a tendency to hobby wobble.

Admiral:

40 Hellcannon crew? :o

Now that’s a unit one wants to see very much! This is getting all the more promising.

Preview One

The base of the Pirates hope you like

Your not getting a full picture yet but this is a dwarfs eye view

Sorry to overload you a bit but im super exited.

Loidrial:

AHA! AMAZING PIRATE! I’m all in to pirates since I’m a kid, I have a blood bowl orc pirate team too.

Go for it!

wanna se it painted!!

Skink:

Stunning conversion! You could model Ghuz Slavetaker (special character from Thommy’s armybook) and give him a unit of CD pirates which could “count as” Slayers! That would look epic! Nobody has ever done it before!

gIL^:

Big shoutout to Bloodbeard who is donating tons of pirate bits.

I have a problem though. The finecast guys are ok but i have a ton of metal hellcannon crew and they are a pain to chop up

Loidrial:

Even if not fitting in a chaos dwarf army, maybe you can pull something out from here for the pirate models.
