Billy Ocean:
So, there is a rumor going round that ForgeWorld is discontinuing all Warhammer Forge projects:
http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?393740-Death-of-Warhammer-Forge
I’m not sure whether to believe this yet, but Darnok on Warseer has a very good record of getting to the truth. I also don’t know where it would leave us? With no ongoing support, would Chaos Dwarfs be considered unofficial once more, and not allowed in tournaments?
Admiral:
I don’t believe the rumour for a second.

I think it would be sad to see warhammer forge go however I am not a fan of their models and I see their work with the CD more as regressive re-writing than developing... However Tamurkhan was 8th ed. and I guess normally armybooks can be legal for another 1 or 2 editions?
I can't believe how messy GW have become, how hard is it in these days to have overpriced print-on-demand up-to-date armylists to support armies their customers have spendt thousands of pounds on and spendt countless hours painting? The answer is: Not so very hard so shame on you for being careless Games Workshop.
EDIT: Oh, rumor.
Kamphre:
If I remember well, when GW announced the end of finecast, they also said that they will reorganize Forgeworld. They (Forgeworld) focus on Horus Heresy and Games W. gets everything else.
I think it’s a good thing because it means that the army book will updated with next rule version, army will be recognized as official, maybe more troops will ve added, etc.
But of course this is only my personal feeling, I may e completly wrong…
BABIS:
this could be a serious problem.
Bloodbeard:
Sad official news.
I know that there had been rumors about Forge World reducing its Warhammer Fantasy focused staff to a minimum. Well, I wrote to them, and got a definitive answer that they've removed all their resources from Warhammer Fantasy because there is no demand for it, and that we shouldn't expect anything from them in that capacity unless the marketplace does a 180s.

This is not news. We've heard that a lot of times asking for the Destroyer. Everything i focused on the 40k Horus Heresy - because it makes money. That's fair buisness.
Doesn't mean we won't get more Warhammer Forge stuff.
I don't think the Chaos Dwarfs will see another official banishing to the abyss. They'll stick around, just not get any new releases.
Skink:
I guess that's what happens when your business plan is manufacturing a large number of (arguably low quality) large monsters nobody actually asked for. Instead they should have focused on upgrade bitz and variant characters.

Gotta agree with this. I mean, look at the 40K range. They got 2 full armies of Imperial Guard, cool Tyranid Monsters & conversion kits, vehicles & upgrades for all races... We got the Fire Elemental. I'm not arguing that the model is poorly/well sculpted, I'm saying that it will never see a game, nor people are going to include it in their armies. They should've expanded the background of each army by releasing models such as Middenheim state troops, Wood Elves enclaves, marked Warriors/Bestigor conversion kits, et cetera et cetera...

I was under the impression that they were pretty happy with CD sales. Maybe they’ll continue to make CD figures if they think the demand is there?
Strange that they would let this slip in an email. You’d think it’s the kind of thing they might release a public statement about or something.
Pertruabo:
so what will happen now? I am just starting chaos dwarfs

This is true. It's not news. We already knew that all sculptors were moved away from Warhammer Forge. It doesn't mean that they'll suddenly stop selling Chaos Dwarves or anything.
Pyro Stick:
I would be very disappointed if this turns out to be true although i feel like FW handled WHF very badly anyway. Looking through the ranges it just looks like they had no idea what direction they wanted to go in and with them closing down the facebook page thats a lot less feedback they will be getting. I remember a few months back though that there were rumours of forgeworld kits being cast in plastic so maybe GW are taking over and leaving FW with 30k. I hope the Chaos Dwarfs arent discontinued as i still intend on buying a lot of the models (k’daai, bull centaurs, drazhoath and the iron daemon) but theres no way i will be able to pick them up anytime soon, unless theres a sale to get rid of stock (hahah doubt it)
Bitterman:
All those people saying they don’t believe this is true, or that they hope it’s not true…
There was NOTHING shown for Warhammer Forge at the Forge World Open Day (except the Dread Saurian as it was released a few days later).
Nothing else. Not one single preview of one single model from one single sculptor. Nothing.
Warhammer Forge is dead, and has been for a long time; and though it pains me to say it, anyone trying to convince themselves otherwise, is sadly delusional. Sorry, but there it is.
Admiral:
It’s dormant not dead. The Horus Heresy gold rush is very much active and will be for some years to come. Just wait until after it.
Yodrin:
I had the impression that the CD sales was good, and it would be strange to just drop it. As said above, we could that they move to plastic and GW would pick us up and we would be official;)
As it is now, CD will struggle with the rules when 9th edition comes out, because we don’t get any new book/update…
Pertruabo:
Fellow Dawi Zharr,I have just phoned FW and I asked to them about this rumour, the Customer service that handled me replied in an instant saying that It is not true,It brought me a small amount of relieve. Hope this helps
Heavygear:
If and when CD get lost in the warp again, I will simply stick my infernal gaurd on 25mm bases and buy a Warriors of Chaos Book. There are equivalent “counts as” units for just about everything I have in my list.

Speaking of which, are there any good ways to make 25mm base unit trays for 20mm bases? I've been thinking of gluing a grid of balsa wood or plastic sprue bits to a unit tray so the CDs can be used as WoC without changing bases.
Grollbringer:
I’m really shocked by these rumors/news. I could live with it if they bring out no new figures, but a complete close down would be really sad :(.
I hope they continue to support the army list. Everything else would be the death of the chaos dwarfs a second time.
All the money, time and energy i spent in this army

This is exactly what I've been thinking, Skink sums it up well. I have never seen the Fire Elemental (or any other of their various monsters) played. It's too small of a sales niche that the rules themselves don't really support. I remember fondly the days of 4th edition when all armies could take up to 25% of their army as monsters/swarms. It made for a huge variety of army combinations and flair...lots of fun. I truly believe GW removed the monsters option from later editions simply because of the almighty $$...more money to be had if you force people to buy large units, rather than a single $5 scorpion or spider swarm. So, if the game rules are geared towards units...then why the F is FW making monsters? They should be making weapon options for units and new units (such as the good examples as given by Skink).
