Magma Cannon

A fiendish weapon first conceived of for use against the ravening Trolls and other unwholesome and hungry monsters that spawn and multiply
in the Dark Lands and is designed to spew molten metal and fire upon its victims, horrifically burning them to death. The Magma Cannon has
seen long use and been the subject of considerable modification and experimentation by Chaos Dwarf Daemonsmith engineers and no two are
quite the same, but rather the product of an individual?Ts malign creativity. Some use pressurised steam-boilers to jet gouts of burning sulphur,
caustic tar or pyretic acids, while others incorporate sorcerously bound volcanic glass shells in which molten lava drawn from the deep earth
slumbers until its shell is shattered.

DEATH SHRIEKER ROCKET

The Chaos Dwarfs utilise a number of different types of gunpowder-driven rocket weapons and the Deathshrieker is one of the more diabolic
examples of these weapons, as bound up within its munitions are howling, malevolent fire-sprits harvested from the cinders of Hashut?Ts
sacrificial altars, and it is the hellish shrieking of these sprits when loosed that gives the weapon its name.
The packed multiple warheads of the Deathshrieker detonate in the air above the battlefield in a storm of fire ?" fire which has its own terrible
hunger for life upon which to visit its touch. Screaming, fanged tendrils of flame plunge downwards from the blast and expend their strength
actively seeking out victims. The tormented sprits are far from discerning though as to whose flesh they burn, and the Chaos Dwarfs must be
cautious lest their own suffer from the wrathful weapon.
In addition to the hellish Deathshrieker rockets, the launchers they use are also able to fire more conventional demolition rockets if needs be.
These use densely packed explosive rocket heads with delayed fuses in a strengthened iron tube to channel the blast against a single point. The
rocket mounts a crown of spikes that drive the rocket into a vertical wall and hold it there whilst it explodes. In this fashion the rocket can
punch through even very dense stone and can make a terrible mess of any large creature that gets in its way too

Death Shrieker rules

Thommy H:

Models are nice (except for the Deathshrieker crewman with the stick who, in that pose and with that beard and horns, kind of looks like Pan), but I’m not quite sure why the rules for the Deathshrieker feel the need to laboriously reiterate how a stone thrower is fired. About three paragraphs could be replaced with “fires as a stone thrower, but use the black powder war machine misfire table”.

Elementary mistakes like that don’t make me optimistic about the eventual book…

zobo1942:

These are OK - but the whole ‘death tractor’ aesthetic they have going on is starting to underwhelm me.

Galladorn:

Deathshrieker seems to be like an expensive, yet slightly more accurate mortar. I kind of like it.

gIL^:

I think the magma cannon is a bit expensive but will cause a lot of damage.

I think im going to get a magma cannon!

Admiral:

I’m feeling very confident about Warhammer Forge’s CD range. It seem to aim high, with accuracy. It won’t be hard to include some Hellcannon crew or old big hats along these models. Nice background, too.

I also thought it was a stick, until noticing the stick to be a telescope. One would expect FW to put some kind of little symbol on those smooth tubes.

As for the rules (which I hope will be usable on most tournaments), you’ll simply have to smack FW on their fingers by writing a corrected version of their rules (which will be downloadable on PDF for the most part, anyway). What do you think of the rules, otherwise? I suspect that FW will make an overpowered army list for the Chaos Dwarfs, effectively hindering them from reaching competitve acceptance and tournament entrance, and thus also blockading themselves from reaching maximized sales.

zhatan87:

The magma rules are the same I saw during the French GD.
To the death shrieker, I also think that they are the same, cause I didn’t read well the rules of this unit, and of course, I forgot some rules.

All that to say that the CD rules seem to look like the CD draft… Which makes me pretty happy…

And prices are far much affordable!

nitroglysarine:

I’m starting to like them more, but I still think i’ll have a go at making my own out of bitz.

Ishkur Cinderhat:

Now we’re talking… the big guns start appearing! I’m not fond of the Death Shrieker, but the Magma Cannon I like quite a bit.

Pyro Stick:

Pretty cool but for that price i might as well go for the Iron Deamon instead. If i was to get one of these i would get the Magma Cannon. The death shrieker rocket looks a bit weird. I dont have the money for any war machines right now so hopefully these arent going to be the only releases this month.

vulcanologist:

not such a fan of these as I am of the iron demon. Is it only me or do the crew not look quite as sharply sculpted?

Zuh-Khinie:

I really, really dislike the rocket mounted on the deathshrieker… otherwise, I like the overall look of those models.

fonejaker:

Pyro Stick
I really want the sorc-prop to come out!!!:mad

Xander:

I’ll need to liquidate other warhammer before I can pay for these.

Who needs Empire Troops? :stuck_out_tongue: Or Marines… old Necrons… Catachans… ANYONE? :stuck_out_tongue:

Admiral:

vulcanologist
Correct observation. It's different sculptors (there probably was a reason for FW to take those up-close pictures of the Iron Daemon crew, where even the scales had some small dents in them), but it's likely a miniscule difference when you do have them in your hand.

Otherwise, I quite like how the various sculptors have tackled the CDs. Skomorowski's Death Shrieker and Magma Cannon crew have tools and boots of another style than the Iron Daemon crewmen (sculpted by Lopez). To me, the tools and small sacks around the former's belts are a bit more in style with the Hellcannon crew.

Also, to me the Magma Cannon is screaming "Red Period". :hat

Thorne:

Don’t get me wrong I like all of them iron deamon hellshreiker and the magma cannon I do. The thing that I always look at is could you scratch build them yourself and I think you more than likely I could so for me I will not be getting any just yet.

Xander
What empire have you got?

If it wasn't for the fact I'm really a Warhammer Collector and hate selling my armies which I've put tons of work into all mine would be up for grabs for money for these

Personally the Magma Cannon is easily the better of the two, the Death Shrieker looks a bit like they tried to mate a Mantic Abyssal Dwarf Rocket Launcher with a Tenderiser. Not that I don't like it, though I certainly prefer the cannon

I agree. These pieces are great but given the hellcannon as the only pre-existing examples of chaos dwarf technology, I would have expected something that went further bringing in that more sculptural appearance. The hellcannon is daemonic but still these should have had a bit more going for them. Given this aesthetic I think my own scratch build will be more fun.
